It's alright...thus far.

Still have power so that's a plus. Little tense. Having a wee one changes the dynamics of things during a hurricane. Booked a hotel room in Texas in case the power goes out for days.

On a brighter note, my wee one is already gonna be one next week!!!
But her birthday party was scheduled for next weekend.

My new favorite go to line I keep hearing from every single jackleg they are interviewing about Isaac: "This storm is not going to be a sprint, but rather a marathon".

are your online friends safe?

The triathlete lives in New Jersey and the biker lives in South Carolina. I cannot vouch for their complete safety, but they aren't worried about hurricanes, just about me.

Yeah, I know. I honestly thought it would go out late last night. But so far, the winds haven't been nearly as bad as Gustav.

Do you guys have a back up generator to run just the necessities?

Nope. Two were uprooted and one was snapped off about 12 feet above the ground during Gustav. I had the uprooted ones cut into firewood and they were hollow about 1/3 of the length of the tree.

I was looking at the one that Gustav took and it broke off and then flew about 30 feet before it came down. It was like it was levitating about 10 feet above the ground for about 10 seconds and then it dropped. I made a flower planter out of the hollow stump.
