I agree with most that their assessment of peak wind speeds seems a bit over the top.
Are the peak wind speeds listed on the GFS the peak sustained winds? or possible gusts to said peak?

What is this looking like for Lafayette?

Why does JPLSU1981 have to be the one to prove up my "poop shoot" theory I posted yesterday? I think it's going N.O. to B.R. to Alexandria to Natchitoches to Shreveport to Texarkana.

I assume a bad rain storm and wind. We're only closing up shop tomorrow.

I would expect the next projected track to shift further westward after landfall to make more of a diagonal run across Louisiana rather than turning following the path of the river

Radar image and recon fixes.

More rain and higher winds. My SIL works for the city and they were expecting about 2 inches then she called to say they were closing the goverment down on Weds. That decision was not made until today.

Never mind. It started moving again. I checked about 45 minutes or so ago and the most recent two fixes were not up yet. Looks like its starting a westward movement though.

Are they predicting this thing to strengthen up anymore before landfall? Doesn't look that way IMO

Is this a hurricane or tropical storm.

It is strengthening as we speak. It does not, however, have much more time til landfall to strengthen. Cat2 at most, although it will likely remain a Cat1.
