from a wind speed standpoint, it is fairly clear......

Yes but Gustav can't compete with the stamina of this storm. Remember, Gustav was downgraded to a tropical depression within 24 hours of landfall. Who knows what Isaac will be able to do since it's moving so slow.

Everyone who said this was over-sensationalized can eat a dick. I hope everyone will learn their lesson by the time this is all said and done.

winds must be less than 30mph.....basically with the worst past. They won't budge until then.

I was getting so aggravated but now its at an all time high. All the people on facebook joking about this storm are the same people begging for it to stop and talking about how they "didnt expect this" and "wish they had a roof".

I think I heard on TWC the guy they were talking to said that they had 10000+ extra resources (I took that to mean trucks and man power) stationed at Hammond and other places ready to be deployed when the sustatined wind speed got below 30 MPH.....I'm sure there are probably other factors in play as to when they start repairing but I do know he said that.

Yes I think the perfect time to talk about how someone was wrong about a storm is in the middle of that storm

Probably not until tomorrow would be my guess. May not be able until Friday though since this storm is moving so slow.

Loyola University prepared for Hurricane Isaac

August 29, 10:41 a.m.

Loyola University New Orleans is canceling classes through Tuesday, Sept. 4, due to Hurricane Isaac. Currently, the university is without power, however resident students who are sheltering in place have access to the university's resources of food, water and emergency services. The campus has sustained minimal damage, and no buildings have any significant damage.

Winds have begun to subside and will continue to decrease as the day progresses. We will continue to provide updates as needed to keep you informed of the university's status. The next update will be provided this evening.
As always, continue to monitor the university's website at www.loyno.edu, or the university's hotline at 1-504-865-2186, or toll free, 1-888-94LOYNO.

It also has to be daylight to work. Or have very bright construction lights, which need electricity that won't be available.
