Was there a reason he called a TV station and not 911?

He's an attention whore and a dumbarse.

ETA: If he couldn't get through to 911, then he's just a dumbarse.

Why would he be lying? He was on air requesting assistance. He was giving addresses and names of his neighboors. Dude would get in serious shite if he was lying.

What an idiot

Who knows gene odden? That's the guy that called. He listed off a ton of people by name in the neighborhood - so if you know Jim miller in the near future smack him for staying with his 90 year old dad too.

Gene was wise enough to stay despite 2 cars, a mandatory evac, and baby. Sounds like one car ruined in the storm. Lucky he stayed to protect his stuff.

It amazes me how many people on FB are getting sappy over it. It's just dumb. It wasn't some moving moment.

Just heard on NPR that a woman with a 5 month old was rescued from a roof in Plaquemines Parish. What is the point where we just allow Darwinism to take its path?

definitely plausible. A few weeks ago when we had a strong thunderstorm in LC lightning hit my parents house and it caught on fire. It took 20 minutes for us to get through to 911, kept getting a busy signal.

ETA: by that time my dad had put out the fire himself.

pretty sure they were specifically referring to BR and new orleans proper. If you live on the coast it's another story.

I dont remember that. Either way, with something like this, you wait til after to start being a smartass.

But I forget, most of the people belittling this are probably college kids that have never had to be responsible for other people or their own property.

No, I think the media did a pretty good job at communicating the risk, even if some of it was for ratings.
