Do y'all do split apps in the spring? 1 at 55 degrees and the other at 70?
Posted on 1/31/25 at 4:02 pm to Canon951
70 here in the Sandhills just did
So stoked my Lowes carries Sunniland products now
Put the 0-0-7 with dithiopyr down
In the fall I went with Andersons barricade and it worked great but didn’t want to use prodiamine again

What's this all about? Can I put the same exact thing down a couple of weeks or do I need to change it up?

Good reminder. I’ll be going the first offa split application tomorrow. I checked and the soil is 55.6 degrees, perfect timing to see this thread because this first temperature window snuck up on me.

It’s a pretty regular thing (if you’re spraying prodiamine) to put down .183oz/1k in early and late spring.

What kind of spreader you fellas using for granules. I have a Scott’s classic drop and I hate it. Maybe it’s operator error but feels like it’s poorly calibrated and will lose 5k worth of granules in 1k. I know it’s supposed to be better for precision but thinking of looking into something else.

Sorry but the Scott's spreaders suck. Been there, done that.
I bit the bullet a year or so ago and bought the commercial Lesco spreader from Site One. I believe it was around $400. Buy once, cry once.
I do have a lot of turf to cover so it was worth it to get a better (commercial) spreader for peace of mind long term.
My 2 cents.

How long to wait for pre-em application after spraying Clegg's? Seems some of the weeds had a party on the Prodiamine sprayed in the fall.
Now. There is no time restriction to apply pre-emergent herbicide following a post-emergent herbicide application, other than allowing the post-emergent herbicide to dry first, assuming it’s a liquid. Two completely different modes of action where one targets germinating weed seeds, the other seedling or mature weeds.

Just put prodiamine down this morning.
How long does this stuff work?
The main weeds I'm trying to control with it are goosegrass and chamberbitter.

Is Cleggs the same as putting Image? Sorry in advance if that's an ignorant question. I suck at this and my yard looks like crap.

Prodiamine should give you a solid 3 months of coverage

Just so you are aware, Prodiamine has little on no efficacy on chamberbitter. According to the literature Isoxaben (Gallery) has some efficacy as a pre-emergent. It’s a difficult weed to control.

There are no ignorant lawn weed control questions - ask away, plenty of knowledgeable people on lawn weed control on this board. Continue to follow this board you’ll be an ”expert” in a year…..lol.
Probably referring to this winter weed cocktail.

What Image herbicide? There are multiple Image herbicides that target different weeds, for different warm season lawn grasses. You need to state the specific Image product you are using. But the Cleggs Winter Weed Cocktail is an effective post-emergent herbicide. There is a synergistic effect when mixing the Fertilome Weed Free Zone with Atrazine.

How effective is Dimension as a spring pre-emergent?? I've had good success with it in the winter.
Posted on 2/1/25 at 6:55 pm to Trout Bandit
Dimension is good. It will kill young crabgrass

I put the Specticle G out this evening. Will water it in in the morning.

Unpopular opinion…..if you have centipede don’t apply pre emergent. The root pruning will amplify issues and it’s simply not worth it. Spray shite as it arises. Use the cleggs cocktail until June and switch to celsius/sedgehammer mix then.
Centipede is a fickle pussy arse bitch. Focus on fungicides and post emergent sprays if you have centipede.
