What’s a good push/self-propelled lawnmower?

Parted ways with my yard crew because I want to get back into cutting my own grass and doing it on my own schedule. Decent size yard. Takes about 45 minutes to cut. Not really configured for a riding mower so a nice push or self-propelled is what I’m looking to get.

So many choices so what’s a decent one to buy? I had a Husqvarna years ago and it was great, but pricey.

Not the cheapest, but a self propelled Honda is great.

Have had a Toro and a Honda. The Toro is fine. Honda HRX217 is way better.

Since you're starting fresh consider the EGO battery powered self propelled mower. No gas, oil, basically maintenance free. Pricey but the value is there. Battery can also be used for potential future tools like blower, string trimmer, etc. EGO Self Propelled Mower

Honda HRX is the way to go if you are satisfied with a 21” cut. I posted this beliw in another thread a couple of months back:

The best mower I owned has been a Honda HRX. It was by far the cleanest and most reliable mower. It costs more ($600+) but it was worth it. Rarely missed a blade of grass and the suction could lift every leaf it came across. I had it for 4 years and The only reason I got rid of it was because I wanted a bigger mower.

I now have a Toro timemaster. It’s a 30” and it’s cut 30 minutes off my lawn time. It’s a great mower as well but if Honda had a 28”+ cut then I would get it in a heartbeat.

Honda is what youre looking for. Not a different brand mower with a honda engine.

I have one thats about 10 years old. Cranks first pull everytime and have only changed oil.

I love the mulching feature when running over the leaves from my live oak trees. Dont need to worry about bagging.

ETA: I have the 10 year old version of this: LINK

This is what I have. My dad gave it to me and it’s been super solid and my yard is not kind on it. I did break the belt once (self-inflicted, I hit a big branch that was hidden) but it was super easy to replace.

I'm on my second Toro self-propelled. First one lasted about 10 years, current one going on 5. I've had to replace the carburetor (@ $20 from Amazon), but other than that it runs great. Also, I currently have the smart stow model where you can fold down the handle and store it vertically.
