What's a good brand of grout that's perfect for wet environments inside showers?

I plan to do some grout repair in my shower. I’ve read that epoxy based grout is preferred for wet environments.

I did not see any products identified as epoxy based at Home Depot or the local ACE.

The products identified for bathrooms identified themselves as being suitable for around tubs, but stopped short of going the extra mile by saying it was suitable in showers, around drains, or the holy grail - epoxy based.

So I come to H&G to seek the wisdom of subject matter experts, but I’ll settle for the best reasonable sounding thoughts.

What is a good brand of grout that is perfect for the wet environments inside a shower and near drains? Bonus upvote for posting an image of the product container from Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Amazon.

Ive used epoxy grout from Home Depot for the very thing you are doing. Was a few years back but it worked great.

Thanks, but… sometimes I wonder why I bother using words to describe my question.

You'll need to seek out a commercial tile supplier and get epoxy grout there.

Several companies make it (Mapei, etc.) but you likely won't find it on the shelf at HD or Lowes.

It's a fricking mess to deal with so do some research and get application instructions from the supply house. But nothing holds up better as it is essentially liquid adhesive mixed in with the grout powder.

You can't mistake it as the fluid portion of the eopxy grout typically comes in 1 qt bottles along with the bags of powder (that's the eopxy instead of just water or latex fortified water).

I have always use Mapei unmixed grouts for pretty much every tile project. Sanded or unsanded, use a polymer-enhanced mixing solution for bathrooms and backplashes, seal afterwards. Only time I used a dedicated epoxy grout was a Sika product for an exterior tile project as it was basically a one-step product for setting and grouting a tile-over-concrete pathway. I didn't particularly like it, was expensive, but did a great job as far as the results.

Epoxy grout is a pain in the arse. Hate that stuff.

It'd b much easier to go with the prism grout from HD and buy grout caulk and just use the grout caulk in the corners outside edges, and at the base.

grout caulk

This. Put that around the tub and it's held up for 12 years so far. Can't tell the difference in color either.

Mapei ultra color FA. And use the matching grout caulk in the tube for vertical and horizontal termination points.

Edit: I only use the unsanded grout and grout caulk. And I can’t stress how important the grout caulk is in corners and horizontal endings. The cracking grout lines are no fun 2 months later.
