This is a trash bin area in a contemporary home built in the 70s back when trash cans were small.

Now the cans are too large to fit and the area is useless.

I don’t want to spend thousands on having a guy cut the house back to the wall of the nook; see where conCrete sidewalk ends and cobble begins. I don’t want to rep the roof off, either unless I have to.

Any ideas what we can do with this space?
Behind the nook is a standing height closet but obviously the roof goes too low beyond it.

Dr. Rick would ask why you have a house for your trash cans. Its trash.

You don't have anything else that you could store in there? Put some simple doors on that opening and you have some nice storage for random crap.

Get some doors, lock it up good, and convert it into a hurricane survival kit room.

Are you close to San. Fran? If so, you can rent it out to a software engineer for $1,200 a month.

Maybe a small, rectangular, storage bin to hold the outdoor cushions during winter/off season.

I'd put some doors on it and keep my boiling pot and other random crap in there.

Secret door. Can sneak out when in-laws come over.

This would be what I do. My damn cushions take up so much space.

Frame in a taller door opening on the side so you can walk in and out and store the taller cans.

Maybe close up the small opening?

Put a door on the opening and store your propane bottles in there.
