Determine the style/ artist you like and then see if they offer prints.

Look on FB Marketplace, sometimes good things come up at good prices. Also, furniture stores and framing shops.

Want something with a little La flair?

Have you seen the Lafitte Pistols (like the I-10 bridge in Lake Charles has on the railings)?

This lady does them:

Reproduction Gallery has real oil painting knockoffs of famous artists work. Prices are reasonable. There are some other sites that provide the same art. I was close to buying from them a few months ago but then found a local artist who's work I liked and so bought from them.

Do you have a subject matter, size and budget?

I have some relatively large acrylic paintings.

I take it from your post that you are young. First time home owner?

Here is my advice, when you see something you like, buy it. You're the one who has to look at this stuff every single day, so buy stuff that makes you happy, not stuff you think is going to impress guests.

Do not buy everything at one store. If you do, it will look outdated and cheap before you get it out of the box.

Do not buy stuff to match your furnishings. Your furnishings will not outlast your art. Buy art you want to keep, then decorate around it.

I've been there. I did sports, a few festival posters, and my cousin is an artist so I bought a couple off of him

i never could understand why people pay soi much for wall hanger decorations.

to me, i dont care what it is, its only worth $50 at the most, yet i see prices in the hundreds of dollars for all that shite.

to me, an art picture or painting is no more valuable than the frame its mounted in

if i found the mona lisa or any other "so called" million dollar painting at a garage sale for $20, i would not offer more than $10 for it and walk away if they said no, because that is all its worth to me

Be unique... it's your place. No matter if you want to hang up an LSU 2019 National Championship poster or some graffiti piece... it's your pad.

Not sure where you’re located, but there are auction houses (Neal is one in NOLA) that do a few auctions a year that often include some pretty good pieces. If you’re patient enough, there are some pretty great deals to be had, and you’ll have something better than the mass produced crap you see everywhere.
