Bought a refurbished Dyson off Groupon. Have had it 5 years and no issues. Best vacuum I’ve ever had.

I have a Dyson ball. Unlike my wife, it'll suck a golf ball through a garden hose. Its fricking fantastic.

Picked up the 985 Roomba from Costco last weekend. It's amazing. Gets under all the beds and couches. We come home to clean floors 3-4 times a week.

Yup. Buy a used rainbow. Runs forever.

Clean house with your vacuum cleaner. Then use rainbow. Be surprised at what yours didn't get

I have an Oreck Commercial upright I got on Amazon for about $110. I must be the only one who hates vacuums with canisters you have to empty. I have a dog and have to empty that thing like 2 or 3 times while vacuuming b/v of dog hair and then the filters get clogged.

The Oreck uses a bag...I got like 50 of them on Amazon for $20. Probably on bag #4 or 5 and I've had this thing for 2+ years vacuuming at least twice a week.

For what it's worth, I had a vacuum repair guy tell me Dyson's are all hype and marketing. He loves them b/c 90% of his service business is Dyson

They often have Dysons only as demonstration on why they are crap compared to other vacuums. Dyson makes the claim they don't lose suction but while my Kirby will lose suction as the bag fills, even full it's still pulling way more air than a Dyson will clean and empty.

Hmmm, have you thought about what it means if you’re now only filling up two bags worth of dirt a year with your vacuum, when before you were filling up a canister 2-3 times per vacuuming session?

The bags hold WAY more dirt than canisters.

Yes, it means the removeable collection cup is too small and the filters get clogged with hair. The bags are huge compared to those cups. It wasn't much dirt btw, mostly dog hair. That damn lab sheds like a mofo.

Also,my house is 90% wood floors, so I can tell if the vacuum cleaner is leaving dirt behind.

They work but are a giant PITA

They are not worth the trouble for two stories or if there are young kids in the house.

Have a Dyson animal and love it and bought several as gifts for family. Order directly from Dyson online and get good deals. Only thing that broke was a roller and they didn’t have roller as a single replacement part so I got an entire vacuum base free under warranty. But had Kirby for years and loved it, just too much to justify for a vacuum.

Add me to the list of Dyson haters. For a "bagless" vacuum mine has several different other filters that are a pain to maintain. I'm thinking about going back to a bag vacuum, but not sure if they have models that work well for carpet and tile/hardwood.

I will say the cordless Dyson's are pretty convenient. But the battery doesn't last and the suction is really for just light cleaning. (Look at the fine print on their cordless. Says it's intended for spot cleaning. $800 spot cleaning vac no thanks)

Oreck works great over tile, so does Kirby and over wood flooring since you can turn the brushes off. Riccar's little bagged canister vacuums are great for solid flooring. Get one and an Oreck commercial XL for rugs and carpets.
