Also three things you don't have to do with a Speed Queen.

No thanks to the extra maintenance and lower capacity of front loaders

I always thought the lower capacity would be a non-starter for me.

I will only consider a top loader. I like the option to have my clothes or towels fully submerged in water

We were given a front load washer and I hate it. It leaks and will frequently stop because the load isn't balanced. We've never had any smell issues, but we do leave the door open when not running it.

When this dies we're definitely getting a top load.

Top load with agitator. Our current top load doesn't have an agitator and wish it did now.

Never really understood why some of my clothes were never clean until we switched from front load to an old fashioned top loader. Never again.

The fact you have to leave the door open is a terrible design flaw.

Hey, when you are done watching TV, turn it upside down. Fixes all the problems.

My top load gets mildew. Pisses me off because that is the main reason we purchased it.

My front load washer malfunctioned, filled with enough water to open the door, and started pouring water into my utility room a couple months after Ida. Luckily my wife was home when it happened or it would have flooded the entire house. After going through that, I would never get a front load again or leave one running when I am not home.

everyone here is gonna scream top load and speed queen......but i have had great front loads. had direct drive LG for 12 years that was awesome, gave it away and still running for them. mildew was an issue as it was an older 2008 model.

i now have samsung dual washer and really like it. mildew is not an issue now and i find front loads with steam function cleans better than top load

just my opinion though and i seem to very much be in the minority on this.

Yes, it does. It's a work horse. Doesn't have lid lock, and with a clothes pin or a magnet on the back lever doohickey, the washer doesn't stop when lifting the lid. It fills up with water also. No pinko commie fig washer in my household.

Top load vs front load washers
What’s the consensus here?

always go top load

front loaders will always mildew and stink.

i had a friend who figured out a solution to it molding and stinking. she sticks a teddy bear in the door so it stays open 24/7 unless the washer is being used. it solved all her mold problems, but with that said, she would never buy another front loader again.

you would think those engineers making $ millions to design shite, would figure out the same thing and just add a vent door that opens when its done washing, so it dries and stays dry and mold free

Ziggy, I have the Speed Queen TR5 top loader. The 2 models are comparably priced. Couple good short videos demonstrating the differences between the TC5 & TR5. Some Pros and Cons to each model which might sway you one way or the other should you decide to buy a SQ.

This is my front loader with the door closed and ready to wash.

This my front loader after the wash with the door in the pre-lock position open enough to allow it to dry out between washes and not stink.

I mean, how hard is that to do after taking the clothes out and placing them in the dryer?

Thank you sir.

ETA: SQ will definitely be my next washer purchase.

Hijack - any insight on their dryers?
