re: Job is requesting I get vaccine - cdl2006 on 8/20/21 at 4:28 pm
I work for a large defense contractor and they put this policy into effect a couple weeks ago. If you are vaccinated and get Covid, you get paid up to five days. If not vaccinated, you have to use PTO. Our sick time and vacation are in the same bucket so the sick time they are offering is extra. ...

re: Thinking of doing a DIY mini-split install - cdl2006 on 8/17/21 at 11:10 pm
I installed one two weeks ago in a bonus room above the garage and I’ve been happy with it so far. I picked up the 18k BTU one from Costco on sale for around $1300. I believe it is eligible for a $300 energy tax credit as well. I probably spent another $100 on materials for the installation. The i...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Best Kids' Smart Watches - cdl2006 on 7/8/21 at 11:10 pm
We did the same thing for my 11 year old son and we have been very happy with it. We pay about $15 a month with AT&T. Another nice thing is you can restrict the numbers that he can talk and text with as well. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Looking for a large Glass-less / Door-less shower insert ideas for new construction. - cdl2006 on 3/23/21 at 8:46 pm
We have a fairly large walk in shower and did a cultured marble surround with a zero entry tile floor. We’ve been happy with it. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Dryer vent on roof - cdl2006 on 1/25/21 at 9:47 pm
We moved into a new house and within two months, the screen was clogged. After a little research, I found out that it is against code to have a screen over it. I had the builder install a dryer jack that Polar Pop suggested and haven’t had any issues in the ten months since. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Can I go from a digital optical output to a Cat6 to a pair of RCA's? - cdl2006 on 1/25/21 at 9:41 pm
If your tv has a headphone jack, you can use the adapter linked below. I have used quite a few of them for over a year and never had any issues. [link=(https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HHO8382?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)]Signal Balun[/link]...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Alexa wireless speakers throughout house - cdl2006 on 1/20/21 at 6:20 pm
Surround sound or whole house audio? If whole house audio, you can set up different speaker groups to include certain echos and play music to those groups from the Alexa app. I use it as a wired setup though. I have the echoes in my house in a couple places and connect them to the amp linked b...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Anyone here have the HTD whole home system? - cdl2006 on 11/1/20 at 3:06 pm
I only have the multi channel amp with voice assist and it is amazing. I have the tv as the main input in all six zones. I have an echo mounted on the back of each tv for each zone going to the voice assistant input. With the echos, you can create speaker groups and play the same music on any of the...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: What smart home gadgets are worth it - cdl2006 on 7/2/20 at 10:45 pm
I’ll second the smart locks. I finished my build in December and haven’t had to use a key. The kids can come in and out and I get a notification on my phone any time someone uses a code to get in. I also have it set up to to automatically lock when both my wife and I are away from the house. I w...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

re: Home automation for new construction - cdl2006 on 12/28/19 at 9:09 am
Yes to cat6 to every tv. How many is the hard question. That’s one of the benefits of the tubing though. If I didn’t run enough, I can always go back and add. If you are planning on running HDMI cables down the tubing, 3/4 may be too small. It will depend on the plug size on it and what else you are...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Home automation for new construction - cdl2006 on 12/27/19 at 11:06 pm
I just finished building and have been happy with my results. These are some things that we did and have been happy with, although not all are for home automaton. I ran at least one 3/4” smurf tube i ordered from Home Depot to everywhere I thought I would need a tv. I also ran it to a couple...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
