Which would you pick and why? Thanks.

We went with Quartz. It's easy to clean, doesn't stain, doesn't need sealed every year, and was cheaper.

I am leaning this way, but I like to be able to put hot pans anywhere I want. The other night I counted 4 times where I put a hot pot or pan on my tile granite.

Have you considered quartzite? It's natural (vs. man made quartz) and resembles marble graining without the etching concerns. We chose it rather than granite and are pleased.

I have.

quartz is superior but most granite is much cheaper.
I typically pick granite because it is good enough and cheaper.

I thought quartz also handled heat as well as granite. Does it vary between quartz types?

I have been told by several that you do not want to put hot pans in quartz.

For it to remain sanitary, yes.

There is some no seal granite in the market now. We saw it when we were shopping. We went with quartz because boss lady liked the color better. It have been in since 2017 and still looks like the day it was installed. We have been happy with it. As far as hot pans, that's what towels and trivets are made for. Granite can discolor with hot pans as well. Can burn off the sealing. Just my 2 bits.

Granite, similar in nature, but can be waaaaayyy less expensive for a stylish color. Some popular quartz like Mysterio white is 3x the price of a Colonial white granit.

I like granite counters when they aren't the builder grade ugly color ones (sorry to any of you I've just offended). There is a lot of ugly granite out there. Choose something pretty!
We thought we were going to go with quartz until we fell in love with our counters, which are quartzite.

I want a more subtle white and grey granite. I thought fantasy white was it until they told me it is more of a dolemite and not a true granite. I am looking at himalayan white or thunder white now. I am just not a big fan of the plastic fabricated look of quartz.

Quartzite >>> Quartz > Granite.
Im a house flipper and have done dozens of each.
Quartzite is easily the best. And most expensive.

I was looking at quartzite early, but the price and finish made me look at other options. I like the shine and pop of the granite as opposed to the dullish finish of quartzite. We were looking at the calacutta quartzite. I could be way off on this.
