We chose quartz over quartzite or granite because it’s way less maintenance than the other 2.

Thing i don't like about quartz is you can't stick a hot pan on it.

And keaker, I have had granite for 20 years. Never sealed. Never stained. Looks the same.

We have white quartzite in our master bath and it's been bulletproof from any staining.

granite isnt resistant to stains at all, you must constantly reseal it or it will get stained and look like shite

This is not true

Also another plus for granite is that you can stick a hot arse Pan or skillet on the counter and it won’t hurt it.

We ended up with Quartz and this is the only real issue with it I remember. That and some of the "styles" just look man made and terrible, so you have to find the right patterns. But in the end, we realized we never once put a hot pan directly on our previous stone countertops. Always used a trivet or something.

...300 degrees.

Boiling pot seems fine.

Weve had granite for 15 years, still looks like new.

No stains or otherwise.

We clean and wipe with regular windex.

Granite is one of the hardest stones there is, and the polishing it gets when made about seals it from anything.

I use Clorox Clean-Up All Purpose Cleaner with Bleach as my main countertop cleaner.
The chain of 17 surgical hospitals I was the Rad Manager for found out in preparation for a looming JCAHO exam that Clorox products do leave a residue behind. It's actually highly visible on shiny stainless steel surgical tables/cabinets and other solid color shiny flat surfaces.

That was a fun watch as the other departments scrambled to find something that would both remove and replace all their Clorox wipes. They called the manufacturer, there was no alternate formula that could be used. I forget what brand we ended up with but the tissues themselves were poor while the cleaning solution was great.

Your last pic is the what we have in all 3 bathrooms and the kitchen, but we have the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and marble floors in the baths (bought some thick floor rugs for the baths as soon as winter hit the 1st year too )

We installed 70 ft2 of 1 1/4" granite throughout our kitchen 27 yrs ago and it has not been sealed since and it absorbs nothing and has had zero maintenance. Got it square edged. Still looks great!

Very true. We don’t put hot pans on our quartz counters so not a big deal for us. I would have liked granite but wanted as close as possible to a white marble looking stone without the marble upkeep, so granite was out.

Thanks. One year in, quartzite is a PITA. Stains like a mofo. Not good for my OCD

We went with quartz back in 2017. They look as new as the day they were installed. We do not put screaming hot pots and pans on the counter though. Trivets and pot holder are made for these things. A boiling pot set down for a few seconds while moving items has not affected anything though. We went quartz because of the marble look without the marble price and BS.

It was said earlier, but all quartzite is not the same. A lot of it is much less dense and more prone to staining. We planned our house around this and put denser varieties in our kitchen and less dense varieties in our bathrooms. The bathrooms have required supplemental sealing but are doing fine thus far.

Wow, good to know. I have one small bathroom with white marble and hate the way water stains it. Our older granite has been great in the kitchen. I would like to go with a lighter color but don’t trust marble or quartzite due to staining. Not sure what I’d go with other than granite now.

Updated to say we do virtually nothing to our granite and always place pans and cookie sheets straight out of the oven on our granite. No problems at all.

I agree. I was lobbying for a dense one but the wife had a particular look she wanted. That was Mont Blanc.
