I delayed putting up my house based upon the terrible forecast. One of our regular posters reported a lot of birds in his area(CENLA) then a big reduction after the cold spell. I have seen photos of dead birds under houses this year like we had in '21. None have circled my house yet which is very unusual.

Any of you have reports? Any lost birds?

They don't come to my box, but two neighbors down the road found eleven dead ones. Some on the ground and some in the box.

A few showed at a relative’s place in St. James Parish a few days ago. He was worried because he had not heard them nor seen them yet this year.

This will be my third year in my new house. First year didn't have a single one show up. Last year I had some come and visit towards the end of the season but never stayed or built a nest. On 2 1/2 acres with a small pond and no trees around the house. Have no idea why they won't nest there.

My mom in south BR has already had them for a couple of weeks now.

Still not one single sighting near my house. I fear mine died in that last hard freeze.

Still nothing in Folsom at my house I had put up 2 years ago. Even have a speaker out there playing bird noises for the last 2 weeks. On a side note I did make about 5 blue bird houses and every house is full.

I have relatives in CENLA and they have had none show yet. On the other hand, the hummingbirds have arrived!

Any recommendations on houses ? I know they need specific homes…looking for something reasonable ..not wood ..
Does it need to be able to be lowered to clean?
Been reading on them
