Over the last 40 years, Big Beef has become my favorite. I'm west of Ponchatoula and south of I-12.

Went with Bella Rosa last couple of years. Less seeds and pretty heat tolerant. Just hard to find.

Celebrity is pretty hard to beat. Decent resistance to disease and heat; been planting them for years

For me, the best tasting tomato I’ve ever grown was Paul Robeson. But they’re not always the easiest to grow, and they don’t have the highest yields.

Per LSU Ag trials, the best is Brandywine. The tomatoes are Huge and the plant can be fussy but they are supposed to be the "best tasting" tomato for south Louisiana. I am trying a new variety called Brandy Boy this season to see if the yield will increase.

Overall best variety for our area is Big Beef and it's not even close. Very disease resistant, heavy producer and delicious tomatoes. After many years of experimenting and talking to local growers Big Beef is my favorite by far. They also have a Big Beef Plus out this year that is even more disease resistant but I haven't been able to locate any yet. They also have a Better Boy Plus and a Celebrity Plus out this year. Big Beef is highly recommended by LSU Ag Center for this area. You won't be disappointed. It's a indeterminate plant so it grows very tall and continues to produce all season.

Does someone sell a variety called creole? They never used to as it was a few different ones.

Early Girl for early tomatoes
Celebrity for foolproof tomatoes
Cherokee Purple for best tasting tomatoes

These can all be found anywhere. Next year maybe try some heirlooms from seed like the Japanese Black Trifele or Chocolate Stripe.

Is Cleggs just putting creole on a label and selling celebrity?

My local nursery for the last few years sold an "heirloom creole" tomato. They looked different than the normal celebrity or better boy that most places label as "creole". This year they got their creoles from somewhere else and it's the typically relabeled celebrities like everyone else sells. I have no idea what kind they actually were but they were the most delicious tomato I've ever eaten with good heat and disease resistance.

My local nurseries are always stocked up on amelias but I never tied them. May try them next year.

This year I'm trying Two Tasty, Midnight Snack, Chocolate Sprinkles, and "Creole". Looking forward to tasting them.

Grew up on better boy, so I plant several of these. Good flavor and disease resistant.

Stump of the world is a good brandywine variety of you want to try one that is not a hybrid, and sweet million is a cherry that is a heavy producer.

Early Girl and Celebrity have worked great for me. Better Boy and Big Beef not bad either. Creole has done ok.
