Want a transmission and engine without issues? Armada with the 5.6

The minivan or this. The more proven motor and transmission. My daughter is on her second. Great ride, ample room. It has the 4 captain chairs and bench seat in the back. Plus room for storage. The Armada can tow up to 8,500 lbs.

Problem with Ford and Chevy, they keep changing motors and transmissions, find something that works and stay with it.

I agree, in my younger days, I did machinist work. They stayed with the motors that worked. It’s not that hard. Much of the same with transmissions.

I’ve got an Armada with that. Has 245k miles on it. I’ve had it since it had 38k. Doesn’t have one bit of valvetrain or timing chain noise. I’ve put a starter on it, a wheel hub, and a camshaft position sensor. That’s it. I do run AMSOIL in it and change every 7k.

At 204k now. The fact that they took the time to use a forged crank and fully balance it is insane. 6300 rpm with zero vibration.

The V6 3.5l Ecoboost has been in production since 2009, and was upgraded eight years ago. I've had the same engine in four different vehicles, with the latest rated at 405HP. A 2015 Explorer did need multiple fuel injectors replaced, but that's the extent of my issues with it.

That thing looks like a modern (4 door) version of an old Scout II

1977 for reference

Give me one in navy blue with black accents

*chefs kiss*

Only thing I don't like is the droopy butt/range rover rear end

Had a suburban 19 years. Traded it in for a Denali truck last December. That was hard as shite to do. Loved that vehicle. Even with 190k miles.

We currently have a Tahoe and a Denali 1500. The Tahoe is the best driving vehicle I have ever owned.

Get a suburban or Tahoe and don't love back. Yukon or Yukon XL are just as good (maybe better)

I drove the new Expedition in Boston a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. BlueCruise (self driving) was awesome. Would be perfect for those long trips. You can also get a fully loaded one for much less than a similar Suburban/Yukon.

Just had the CDF drum replaced in my expedition at 80k miles. Luckily I had a warranty. Estimated cost was 5-7k.
Ford an GM developed this transmission together for what it's worth.

I used to have a 15 that remains the best driving vehicle I've owned. The new ones seem to be even better. They're really just perfect highway vehicles. Around town, Tahoes in particular feel like they turn like a car when you're used to a truck.

Thanks for all the replies. My wife drives a 2023 Honda Odyssey, and we love it. Drives incredible, and like others have mentioned, super easy when dropping and picking up the kids from school with the sliding doors.

I was against even looking at minivans. Wife drove a Sienna for a month as a rental and we were blown away. More features than her Expedition, and typically 15-20k cheaper. It also averaged 37-40 mpg depending on drive. If you have more than 2 kids minivan is the way to go.

The new car market has been horrible for years, the wife and I both have 2016’s and every time we go look at something new we just fix our current ones and go back into a holding pattern.

She has a Yukon now and I just can’t wrap my head around spending almost 100k on a similar new model.

At some point I feel like the bubble has to burst.

My niece has a 2019 Tahoe and she is having to get a new engine put in it at a cost of roughly $16,000. She had the extended warranty on it.
