Natural Gas Hose and Quick Connect

I'm looking for a 3/4" hose to have set up for my generator. I can only find 15' max online. 25' would be ideal for tapping into a gas line that already exists under my patio and having the generator sufficiently far away from the house. I've found places online that will custom make a hose longer, but its $300 or more. I'm in Houston and stopped by Coburn's and they said they didn't have anything. Where else would one find something like that. I know you can buy the yellow segmented steel, but don't think that's really intended for temporary hookups.

Looking for something similar. Maybe a y with a quick connect and valve to put behind my dryer. Then just run a hose when a storm hits.

You could maybe try an industrial hose supplier. I know my dad got replacement hydraulic hoses for his tractor at like 1/4 the price of the dealer hoses. They’d likely have the hose material and possibly the fittings to make it for you.
Otherwise, spend the money and order them. I ordered a 20 ft 3/4” hose with my kit from PNGTech. It was stupid expensive, but similar to any other place online. I liked theirs because it came with all the QDs and components needed.

Call one of the industrial hose houses in Houston and tell them what you’re looking to do. Make sure they know you want hose rated for a natural gas application. Same on the QDs. It’s not going to be cheap. Store the hose assembly indoors, out of the sun when you’re not using it and it’ll prolong the life.

You can buy just the hose from US carburetion where they sell their conversion kits too I believe.

I got my conversion kit from PNGtech, but thought the hoses were overpriced. Looking back, they weren't as awful as I first thought. US carb had the best price for me though. Only putting a QD on one end leaving it "permanently" attached to the generator end. Saved about 75 bucks.... which probably wasn't worth it when I'm spending 3500 seeing everything up, haha. I probably should have called local house distributors, but just don't want to deal with it all right now

How do you like your PNG kit? Think that’s who I’m going with for my generator.

Hadn't gotten it yet. Order is still processing.

You can buy a 200-300 PSI 25' 3/4" air compressor hose on amazon for $40-90. I'm sure the code enforcement people on here will down vote me but it will work in a temporary situation

You can buy the hose by the foot, or buy a spool, and hook up your own connections.

Tejas Smokers is located in Houston and can make you a custom length hose. It will be safe but it won't be cheap.

Look at U S Carburation. I got a 25’ one there.

Just use the flexible gas line with the proper connections.
Remember, permanent can be used in temporary situations but temporary can never be used in permanent installations.

Natural gas molecules are smaller than oxygen molecules, so the hoses used to convey it are designed to reduce permeation, which could obviously create a dangerous situation.
You’re right, the natural gas to your home is delivered at very low pressure, so the chances of permeation through the air hose should be less than what they would if you were using a propane tank or something at even higher pressures. Question is, do you want to learn a hard earned lesson to save a couple hundred bucks?

The engineer has enter the chat
You could pressure test the air hose filled with natural gas from the house using a $10 pressure gauge.
Another option using natural gas specific hose. Buy 25' of hose from home depot, two adapter/fittings and make the hose. Cost would be about $80
Home Depot Hose

That hose technically isn't for outdoor exposure.

I’m not an engineer, but I do work for a major hose manufacturer. I’ve seen crazy things happen in real life and advise conservatively as a result. You’re giving bad advice, my man.

I want to hook up my Tri Fuel Firman to my NG connection by my BBQ pit. I only need a 10'-12' hose to be safe from my house. Would a 1/2" hose suffice?
