Marble counter tops in the kitchen

Specifically Fantasy Brown. I know marble is softer than granite and more susceptible to staining, etching, etc... Do any of you have it in your kitchen? If so, are you pleased or have you had any problems? I’ve read mixed reviews from people that have had it in their kitchen. I have also had some stone reps tell me not to worry about it as long as I clean up spills right away and other stone reps tell me there is no way they would put it in their kitchen. Both my wife and I like it more than other stones, but are beginning to shy away from it due to fear of staining.

Corion with intergalactic deep sinks with basic colors. Resells better.
Quartz and marble are like carpet and wall paper, torn out with the owner.

Do not do it! Our house has Carrara Marble in the kitchen. It dulls, etches, and even scratches. I have been painstakingly re-polishing it and sealing it. I would have never bought this house if I would have known then.....

Thanks. Whatever stone we choose we are going leathered, not polished. Staining is my main concern.

We have Carrara marble on our kitchen island
It sucks and I hate it.
Etches, chips and stains. That’s the trifecta of a shitty countertop

I just looked it up and Fantasy Brown appears to be listed as both a granite and a marble depending on where you look. I’m by no means an expert, she. When we looked a year ago it was sold as a granite at the 3-4 places we went.

It’s technically a marble, but it is a very hard marble. Some classify it as a quartzite since it is so hard.

That’s what my wife is putting in my kids bathroom on 7/2

We picked out a marble-didn’t know it until we check out-spent some time reading pros and cons but ultimately loved the stone so much we just went with it.
The guy that cut and put it in said it was unlike any marble he had seen. He said he didn’t know what it was.
So maybe a granite/marble?
We still love it. It’s in the kitchen, laundry room, bar, and three bathrooms. Each a different use, and no problems so far. It’s been about 6m.
My husband says he wished he would have gotten it “polished” by the installer so it kept a wet look-but We are both happy with it for sure.
If you love the stone-get it. Take care of it (seal and clean) and it shouldn’t be that different than granite.

Fantasy Brown is quartzite. It is way more durable than marble. We have it in kitchen and master bath. The colors are very different by slab, make sure you pick/tag your exact slab and cut can be made to include the desired area of the slab.

If you have a bit of money to burn look at Quartzite. It has a marble look and the durability of quartz.

We have Fantasy Brown granite. I didn’t know you could get it in marble.

I’ve got white statuary marble w grey veining, honed, in my kitchen. All tops and 8’ Island. I use it heavily for bread and pastry work. It will show wear.....white pressure dinks if you slam something down that’s harder than marble, a few chips around the sink from clunking cast iron around. But, I knew this going in, as I like the look of European farmhouse kitchens with weathered countertops and antique work tables. If you want something to look exactly the same on day 1 as day 2001, don’t buy marble.
I dunno how regular people live with polished marble, though. It show everything. Honed has a soft, dull look that’s not reflective.
Staining hasn’t been a problem, a poultice of barkeepers friend picks up most everything.

Leathered all the way here. I live in a squared-log log cabin and like the look and feel of the leathered granites and marbles.

We have Fantasy White...which is a "hard" marble and some even classify it as quartzite. It's sealed with Dry Treat and has held up excellent.
Don't buy those cheap sealants from HD/Lowes, get a quart of Dry Treat and you'll be set.

We were looking at marble as well and the supplier told us if we do any sort of cooking in the kitchen don't bother. It stains and maintenance is a pain in the arse. We went with quartz and are very happy with it.
