it's made for drinking water, not whole home water. It will do 75 gallons per day. A RO/DI system like that puts out the purest water imaginable. Better even than Distilled water. The Total dissolved solids begin at .000 and slowly come up with usage. I have a cheap little TDS meter I paid like $7 for that tests the water every once in a while. You can also get an inline TDS meter if you want to monitor the water output.

Thank you

What's wrong with tap water?

Depends... There are multiple issues.
1) the chemicals added to prevent microbial growth in the water system and your house also kill the beneficial microbials in your gut which has vast reaching consequences like allergies, immune system decline, endocrine system failure, etc. The chemicals are necessary for mass water distribution but they need removed before consumption.

2) agriculture runoff... If your water comes from lakes or rivers it is highly likely it contains runoff including herbicides, pesticides, etc. These are endocrine system disruptors and many are cancerous. Research how it changes frogs from male to female for example. The big issue is water treatment facility cannot remove these chemicals from the water. They pass right on to the consumer. Nothing really your water company can do about it feasibly.

3) pharmaceuticals... Just like at runoff, these are showing up in impactful levels in drinking water everywhere. As with ah runoff, water treatment facilities do not have the capability to remove these from the water.

Right but where do you think bottled water comes from? Either a) another municipal water supply or b) springs. I can tell you that spring water also is plagued by agricultural contaminants.
Living here in "cave country" FL, we are fighting the damage being done to our springs by agriculture both in contaminants and overpumping. In addition, you have the water companies (Nestle is the big one), taking spring water (for free), bottling and distributing for profit while contributing to the plastics problem.

Just drink tap water. Treat it if you must but stop buying water and contributing to the problem.

My pancreatitis started acting up last 2 weeks, gradually getting more painful. I switched to drinking cokes and the symptoms subsided. (my pancreatitis is weird. I can eat corn chips and potato chips, drink cokes all day every day. Eat a salad and it may send me to the ER)

Then last Friday here comes a notice in the mail from the local public water: tests show higher than acceptable levels of several items they test for.

And of course these notices of exceeded levels are always past tense. One of these days some whole town will be dead and their relatives will find in their dead relatives mail: "Notice: do not drink the water, toxic levels of _____ have been found".

It is typically multi stage filtration including RO and DI. Feel free to test bottled water. There is a reason it costs more than tap water. The filtration systems required for utility service are just too big to use the same technology. Mainly they can't get required flow rates with bottled water quality filtration to serve distribution to the home.

Spring water typically comes from higher elevation above the AG runoff point. Of course some have issues.

Check all water quality reports before assuming any water is safe. There are plenty of good options.

I have a whole house water filtration system by Rhino. cost me $1500 for the system and my plumber charged me 200 to hook it up. Filters with UV light bulb are around $100/mo. The way my filters look when I replace tell me it's a great investment.

I urge everyone to get this $6.00 TDS meter so they can test out their water themselves.

TDS isn't very helpful by itself. Naturally occurring minerals and salts are "dissolved solids" and are actually good for you.

I get that. I get my minerals elsewhere.

I need water in the plastic jugs for the type of orchids that I'm growing. I just go to Wal Mart and buy the Great Value water that comes in plastic jugs. One day I happened to read the front label on a jug of water. I was surprised by the source of the water that I buy. The water that Wal Mart sells comes from a certain Parish here in La.

PUR water filter and dispenser. It’s like magic. Don’t use all those plastic bottles. Just fill from the tap and put in fridge and enjoy. It’s like $30.

And then get a steel bottle, like $15 from Target, and drink out of that all day. The water is colder and crisper from a steel bottle than plastic. And it stays cold a long time.

So you're drinking enough water to pee clear liquid while you add truckloads of plastics a year to the local dump.

Smooth move X-Lax.
