I’m about to plant a garden and I was wondering if there was anything I could put out to keep deer out of it? Id rather not build a fence if possible. Thanks

this ^^^^^

it needs to be a complete fence with a fence wire completely covering over it so they cant jump the fence, because they will if its not 10ft high

short of that, all you can do is make a roux and snipe them with a 22 at night and tell no one, not even a family member, about what you are doing

something you can try would be a motion sensor hooked to flood lights and a very loud car horn. even if it doesnt scare the deer away, it wakes you up to run out there and chase the deer off. but be prepared to lose a lot of sleep and piss the wife off if you do it.

Yeah, and he would have to go out and run them off, or eventually they will get used to it and ignore it.

Would motion activated sprinklers work? or would they just get used to the bath?

I use the 3D electric fence ( 2 electric fences 3 ft apart). It works well.

Are you against eating deer meat year round? I'm not.

I have had really good results with the deer and rabbit repellant that Lowes carries.

My father in law has had good luck just using a bird netting material at about 6’ tall held up by metal poles driven into the ground. It’s a good size garden. He takes it down every fall.

I've heard of zesting food plots to mess hunters up. Try slicing up or grating zest and putting it out. I've also heard human hair is a repellant.

Ive a 2 strand elect fence. Wire height att 8 inches(rabbits) and 36 inches (deer). Horse sized shock box. One time hitting it. Wont bother garden.

We used to have a 10 acre garden in the middle of the woods on some land my mom and stepdad own. Only way was to put a strand of electric wire like you said. When deer season started we'd take the fence down and it was game on.

I’ve heard about farmers spreading dried human waste. Not sure if you could consume veggies where it was used though

I put up a fence which worked for the deer, but not the squirrels. I had to put some chicken wire on the fence to keep them out.

Invest in a bow and learn how to use it. If a fence is out, it’s that or sticking to planting stuff they don’t like. Maybe try a scarecrow.

Instead of an alarm couldn't he just use some of those motion sensor Halloween decorations that jump up and make a noise when triggered? Depending on distance from garden to bedrooms, may not disturb anyone's sleep; just have to be prepared for the neighborhood kids to have some fun.

I have used this for years. It's a rare occasion that I have a break in. Then the only nuisance is fence repair.
