Help. I have dividers and pull out racks and all the cool stuff in most of my other drawers but I don't know how to fix this. We use just about everything in here but I hate the fact it's already looking like shite.
You baws and bawettes are a clever bunch so what do you suggest?

Try organizing everything to face the same way. It would make it visually pleasing and quicker to find exactly what you need.

Before organizing------or trying to-----go through that drawer and toss what is hardly ever used. Every kitchen has a "junk drawer" and I will go through mine at least once a year and if I haven't used a particular thing in it during that time, out it goes.

I have junk "drawers" in my kitchen, shop, and laundry room. They are very useful imo. If I don't know what to do with something, it goes into purgatory. Then once a year or so I decide what stays and what goes to STRAIGHT TO HELL.

Not much advice for organizing other than to say keeping knives in drawers with the blades unprotected is just asking to slice someone’s finger.

My advice is to get rid of duplicate items and anything made of plastic. I got rid of a lot of essentially junk kitchen utensils and kept only those made of wood, stainless steel, or silicone and those are organized into a pair of countertop utensil pots. General use knives I put in a dedicated drawer knife block that protects the edges and my good cutlery (stuff my fiancée doesn't use) into an under-cabinet-mounted drop-down magnetic block. Kitchen-gadget type stuff I either organized into a drawer with bamboo dividers or is placed in the buffet in the dining room if it's stuff I only use on occasion.

Get a bunch of cup hooks and hang a bunch of that stuff on the inside (side) wall of one of the upper cabinets. Out of the way and easy to find.

That's not a junk drawer, all those items are related to the kitchen. It is a poorly organized drawer though. Whatever are duplicates of items you have nicely organized somewhere else, I would relegate those to the trash or if they are still used, just very infrequently I'd stash them in a container is a storage location, pantry, utility closet, etc. For instance I'm assuming those are your "beater" knives of which you have many duplicate chefs knives, get rid of all but 1 or 2 to use as beaters. After relegation, for the stuff that has earned "drawer status" I would get some drawer organizers and sort them accordingly. For instance, an in-drawer knife block so people dont cut themselves rummaging though that pile of crap, a couple full length dividers for the longs stuff and whatever size dividers fits the smaller shite.

thank you, some solid tips in here

I'd split that stuff into 2 groups. Long/slender items (spoons, tongs, spats, etc) will organize nicely into dividers. Boxy stuff (box grater, potato masher, etc) should go elsewhere.

We use a vase of some sort on top the counter right next to the stove for the high use items that are long and thin. Works Great and will open that drawer up for the oddly shaped items.

Many of those items are relatively shallow. You could put a two-layer system in for at least part of the drawer. Put a 1/4” wood strip down the sides of the drawer about half-height and then fit a tray on top of that that can lift out. Put seldom used items on the bottom. Top tray can have dividers to organize it.
