I went green a couple weeks ago with a Greenworks 42 inch rider, 8A 60v. I can do my 2 acre yard and have 15-20% power left. It charges inside in hour 1/2. High grass doesn’t efect cutting or the battery. Has lots of power.
I’m using four batteries but can use six. Batteries were high at $350 each. I have a trailer that it can pull around. Would not go back to gas and oil mower.

eta 3rd year with my EGO; battery life has dropped off a bit but AMA. i have no desire to go back to a gas system. my whole tool ecosystem is EGO and ive never been this happy with lawn equipment.

This. EGO has been great for me too. I have used elec chain saws for going on 15 years and I am about to upgrade to one of the EGO. My other one works fine, but I am going to leave it at my mom's so I can do work around the property/hunting club when I am visiting.

I got the Kobolt one from Lowe’s.

I bought this one this past spring (40v) and have been very pleased with it but being "green" was absolutely zero factor in my decision.

I got ~15 years out of my Craftsman gas mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine and had zero problems with it all that time until it started blowing oil (shot rings) and I decided to replace it rather than rebuild the engine. Will I get 15 yrs out of the Kobalt and original battery? Probably not but if I get half that I'll be happy.

you hear that 'revving' sound? that's the sound of your motor kicking into high gear to get through thicker/higher turf.

by definition, it will absolutely affect battery life.

I have a Crafstman one. It was pretty great and did both funny and back yard. But the battery failed. I couldn't find a new battery so bought a gas mower from Sam's.

i have 2 battery failures and both times ego just sent me a brand new one and told me to properly dispose of the non-working ones. they didn't even fuss about the fact the batteries were like 5 years old.

EGO batteries have a warranty for either three of five years. I want to say five for batteries & chargers, three for equipment/tools. They do have an expected life drain but EGO is supposed to send them off to get tested and measure how much actual battery life they physical hold and will send a new one if the criteria is met.

I have one (Kobalt), that I would have given you. It is terrible.

Ego is a much better brand, but I wouldn't buy a battery powered mower for an average size lawn with thick grass.

40v batteries are becoming crazy expensive.

Ryobi is shite. The handle is loose from openings being stripped after about a season and a half of mowing.

I gotta stop every 10 minutes and re-tighten the only 4 screws that aren’t completely stripped out.

Major regrets getting that. Wish I would’ve just bit the bullet and spent more on EGO.

How much will that battery cost to replace when it dies? Not being snarky, truly have no idea.

I have the ego as a backup to gas. Found myself using the ego more.

Only negatives so far-
Small deck space and fairly flimsy blade.
