It’s thick and hard as hell to cut

Is there anything else mixed in that you want to keep?

I had some bahaia mixed with st Augustine and the st Augustine eventually took over the bahaia completely.

I’ve also struggled with Bahia. You can cut the damn stuff every two days if you wanted to. Problem I have is that there is hayfield across the road, so I figure spraying would only be temporary and a waste of money.

I might prefer it to St Aug.
I have a decent patch of it in my St Aug.

When they built our new house, they put St Augustine in the front and sides, Bahia in the back. No sprinkler system back there and it does well with drought.
For some reason, we have some Bermuda coming it back there in one area now. Landscaper told me you cant kill that bahia. Said it can take anything

I've tried MSM Turf on my Bermuda lawn to get rid of the Bahia. The Bahia turned slightly but it did not die. I mixed per the instructions. My only guess is that i sprayed it too late in the year and it was too warm outside? Other people are telling me it takes multiple applications?

Move!

There’s nothing that I’m aware of. It grows over an inch a day this time of year.

It wouldn't be so terrible if it wasn't for the seed heads. They are back in a day or 2 after mowing.

MSM is the trick, but have to have right conditions and right time of year.
If its dormant or any other condition where it isn't actively growing, it won't work. Believe it also has to be below a certain height to work.
Its the only thing I've used successfully to kill bahia is a restoration project I'm working on.

Make sure to do it when the Bahia is growing and not dormant, too warm shouldn't be a problem. It will take multiple apps and make sure you use a surfactant.

If in bermuda, hit it with a shot of MSMA, it'll kill it. Bermuda will brown, but green back up in two weeks. Same some mixed to spot spray.

It’s apparently most effective if it’s growing but before the seed head forms.

I have 2.5 acres of Bahia in the front of my property, it’s awesome. Maintenance free, green as ireland, thick as shag carpet and nothing affects it even last years drought. Yes you mow it but it requires literally nothing else

Aye, but the long stems and seed heads are very unsightly. Plus, it grows far too fast.

I bet it looks great on Google Earth.
In all seriousness, it’s a great grass for such a large area. At the same time, if it’s a big area, and especially if those nasty 18” tall seed heads are thick and brushing their knees, nobody’s gonna be out there inspecting very closely.
