Can I just turn off mopping? I probably don’t need that daily like I need dog hair picked up

I don't have my vacuum slave yet, but from reading reviews, yes, you can tell it to vacuum only.

I think you can also tell it to do all the vacuuming first, then mop when done, so that way it should already be done with the carpet and not have to risk going over it with the mop.

Yes.

There are options for

Vacuum only
Mop only
Vacuum and mop
Vacuum then mop

We have the Roborock 10 also. Does what it is designed to do for a lower price unit. Cautions tho, if you have small area rugs with any frayed edges it will try to eat those and get hung up. I have a couple I usually just pick up or move out of the way before running vac.
Does a good job tho of avoiding obstacles and rerouting. Solid choice for everyday routine cleaning

I ran the mop for the first time yesterday. It did a decent job for what it is.

I set it to vacuum and mop at the same time.

The robot recognized where the rug was and lifted the mop out of the way.

Roborocks sells their own floor cleaner. They tell you that you can’t use anything else in their robot. I’m sure that’s not just because they want you to buy only their floor cleaner. I wish the robot had come with a small sample of the cleaner to try out.

I also set a couple of “no-go” zones - the bath mat and the dog’s bowls - and the robot recognized them and avoided them.

I haven’t had any more issues with the mapping feature. I’m still only running while I’m home for the time being just to make sure nothing goes sideways with it.

I’ve been eyeing the Roborock S8 MaxV ultra RDS. It seems to do everything I want and have great reviews.

Vac still has a few small glitches to it. I have it set to self empty the robot every 15 minutes. Every other time I use it, it won't self empty on schedule. Then when it's done cleaning it still doesn't self empty.

I can make it empty manually through the app, but that's not how its supposed to work.

That's odd. Mine always empties automatically whenever it docks. Maybe a setting turned off somewhere?

Also it sounds pedantic but try power cycling the vacuum itself in case there's some bad data causing it to not auto empty.

I brought my old Roomba 880 to the office, and I remembered this morning why I upgraded.

It home base is in our conference room. I have it set to start cleaning at 7am so it’s done by the time everyone comes in.

This morning I came in a little early, and the Roomba is bouncing around the conference room. I don’t think I’d ever made it out of that room because there was still dirt on the floor of the hallway.

That’s the main thing I hated about it. Sometimes it would get stuck in a room and just bounce around in that room until the battery ran out.

I checked the settings, and auto empty is still active in the app with it set to empty every 15 minutes.

I'll give that a shot. But it goes back and forth every other cleaning where it doesn't auto empty.

bump.

holy shite the X40 is freaking awesome!! just a few things better than my older roborock
* mapping is insane; it can 'see' rugs, lamp and phone cables, pets, furniture, etc.
* vacuum power is so much better; it get 99% of the dirt
* mop sensor is insane; it noted a muddy 'footprint' and went over the area several times until it was clean
* takes cute pet photos while cleaning
* when i emptied the dirty water it was FOUL. i can't believe there was that much brown water in our house. wife keeps house spic and span and yet...holy moly
* it comes with a little bottle of 'mop solution' which i will gladly continue to buy. i'm sure i can find a generic version that is pretty cheap.
* Home Assistant integration is off the charts. it exposes like 500 entities so you gotta pare down what you want to display.

here's my current display on the den tv when its running. wife hates that i have a loud "AVALANCHE!!!" with appropriate rumblings on the subwoofer that plays in the Den every time it kicks off.

60 years old and i'm still acting like a 5 year old.

now skynet knows exactly how when and where to come round you up after the singularity. At least the floors will be clean when the drones get there

roborock. always been solid. get the one with a auto dump bin. mop is nice too
I love our Roborock. We don't have the mop feature on ours, but do have the auto dump bin. I love that it maps everything out and doesn't miss anything when cleaning.

We've had it for four years now and highly recommend it.
