CAD, does your house have any significant thresholds/bumps going from one room to another? We have about a 1 inch threshold from our kitchen to our living room where there's hardwood floors. I'm wanting to get a Roborock or a Dreame, but I'm afraid I'm limited to their higher end models that are rated to climb that high. Just curious if you can report on what your models are able to "climb"
ETA: I've seen a ton of the mid-range models for various brands that are rated up to .75 inches of climb or so. The higher ends can go up to 2+ inches, which is overkill for what I need. Just don't want to spend hundreds more if I don't need to. Wish I could borrow one from somebody and try it before buying.

it can handle, say, chairs that have a metal bar that runs along the floor for instance and it will find its way over that with a GREAT BIT OF DRAMA and noise.. but we do not have any significant drops/rises between rooms for it to get hung up on but i think it could handle a 1" threshold. those that climb and have extra brushes in the base soaking in hot water to swap out in the middle of a cleaning job are sweet but i don't have $1,500 to spend on something the wife already doesn't care for.
and i get it..she's a machine and nobody can clean the house like she can so she scoffs at the job the roborock does even though i show her how much shite it picks up every time it goes through a few rooms.

My wife has always hated the Roomba. Even though I only run it when she's not home. Whenever she complains about it, I show her how much shite it picks up off the floor in a single day, and tell her she's just jealous because the Roomba does a better job than her. For some reason she still doesn't appreciate it.

I ordered the Roborock Q10 X5+. Spent the past couple of days reading reviews and watching youtube videos about it, and it seems to be one of the top budget options. Should get it tomorrow. I'll update once I have it set up and let it run a few times.

On our second roborock got the newer ones curvx I think that mops and self empties. No complaints had it November.

I've had the same roborock s5 since hurricane Ida. It's never let me down and the app is really good

Got it yesterday.
Unpacking it and getting set in its final location was easy enough.
The instructions are terrible, so it took me a bit of playing around with the app to figure out how to do its initial mapping of my house.
It did a pretty good job of covering the whole house.
I was able to edit the map it created to section off areas of the house as separate rooms or combine two rooms into a single area. For example, it treated the hallway as part of the living room, and separated the kitchen as two different rooms. The app allowed me to make the hallway its own separate room, and combine the kitchen into one single room.
I did a full vacuum only run last night. I have it set up to empty the bin every 15 minutes since I don't want it to get packed with dog hair and not be able to suck it all out.
It was pretty cool watching announce "Heading to Home Base", stop vacuuming, head to its base, empty the bin, then head back to where it left off and continue cleaning.
I ran it again this morning because the instructions say to let it run a few times on vacuum only before attempting the mop option. It only cleaned the room where it's home base is located, announced "cleaning complete" then tried to find its base. It wandered around a while then said that it couldn't find its base.
I put it back on its base, and tried running it again. This time the map disappeared from the app. I kept getting an error when I tried to get the map to load.
I let it run for a while, then checked again, and the map was loaded. I'm not sure if this is just a bug it needs to work out.
I'm going to run it again this evening to see what it does.

If you have Alexa is nice to be able to say "snow white vacuum and mop the kitchen" and it will just do that and then go home.
Handy if the dogs make happen to make a mess or something and you're not near your phone.
The dreame should be in this week so I'll do a comparison of that vs my roborock which I've gotten pretty comfortable with.
I lost my map as well once or twice in the past year and had to relabel everything.

As of now I'm only going to run it while I'm home to make sure it doesn't glitch up somehow.
I've seen reviews where people mention the app constantly glitching on them. If that becomes an issue within the 30 day return window, I'll have to make a decision whether or not to keep the thing.

I haven't had any issues with the app but I set up a couple of scheduled cleanings that run every day and so the only interaction I usually have is to occasionally pause it by pushing the button on top and remove the water bin to fill it up if it's out.
It's good about telling you where it gets stuck: hint: if it gets stuck in one place it will tend to get stuck there every time. Anyway when I opened the app it asked me if I wanted to put a block over that area so it would stop getting stuck. I said yes and it hasn't happened since.

I've never had one mop before. That Roborock linked in this thread says it has sonic mopping? Does it actually stop mopping when it hits a rug or carpet?

I haven't tried it yet. But its supposed to lift the mop pad by 8mm when it encounters carpet. The bot can tell where the carpet is from its initial mapping of the house. My map shows where our area rug is in our living room. You can also mark an area as carpet manually on the map.
There's a carpet setting in the app that allows you to:
Avoid the carpet entirely
Ignore the carpet, as in pretend the carpet isn't there and treat it like the rest of the floors
Cross the carpet wihout cleaning it. So the bot can cross the carpet to access different areas of the house, but it won't vacuum it
Rise. Which raises the mop pad when it encounters the carpet.
I'll probably try the mop feature tomorrow.

Can I just turn off mopping? I probably don’t need that daily like I need dog hair picked up
