Have never done fall preemergent so I went to Petrus at lunch. Mr. Petrus recommended Dimension. They also have Barricade.

Dimension is a good pre em but again, I like it for the spring. Dimension not only prevents but it kills young crabgrass.

For whatever reason, that's one weed I never get. Seems like I get pretty much everything else in the Winter though. Spring is only lespedeza and VBW for me.

With rain coming this weekend - got the Specticle FLO down yesterday.

I used the Lazer dye for the first time and accidentally tipped the bottle a bit too much... so my yard is blue until the rain gets here.

Ronk - what are you recommending in DFW for fall pre-em?

I have been using Simazine in the fall for the past few years at your recommendation, but it didn't work well this year. I had a big problem with rescue grass in the past and that really helped, but last year it didn't do much.

Where do yall buy the Specticle Flo? Everything I'm seeing online is like $300.
Is that the going rate?

Simazine is a two app pre em as it works well but doesn’t last long. We are phasing it out as the labels have been changed in 2024. Residential application rates have been lowered and weed resistance has increased.

Specticle is all I use now. 10oz per acre on Bermuda and 6oz on St Aug.

I got mine at SiteOne in Baton Rouge. That sounds about right at $300 if not cheaper than what I paid. However that bottle has lasted me several years with more to go.

Looks like soil temps are still about 5 degrees too warm here around BR. I'm thinking maybe middle of october on mine. Let me know if that's wrong.

Plan on going with this that I've always used. Pretty crazy how my weeds took over after the snow earlier this year killed all my centipede in the shady areas where the snow sat for a long time.

I put this down yesterday. The hoping it kills existing weeds as well as puts down a barrier for Poa but the active ingredient Indaziflam (Specticle) is very low. Will put down another application in a month.

Considering put down this as well

My dimension went down yesterday. Was really the only day I had any time to do such a thing and then run the sprinklers.

You are probably right, I put down my specticle this past Sunday because I suspect the next few weekends might not have worked for me with life schedule.,

Would this be a good preemergent to apply on st. aug in Baton Rouge area? If not, can someone recommend one? I want to use a backpack sprayer for coverage.

Yes it is but most on here will tell you to do that one in the spring and something with Indaziflam (trade name is Specticle) in the fall.

My routine is:

Indaziflam (Specticle Flo) - early fall with second application 60 days later

Dithiopyr (Dimension) - early winter
Atrazine -early winter for stickers

Freehand - early March

Prodiamine (Barricade) - around Easter

I watched a youtube on Centipede Grass that said Gallery is the best because it is not a root pruner and we all know how delicate Centipede is around weed killer. Looking for opinions?
