Dryer is making my clothes smell sour

My clothes smell sour after being dried and I don't know why. The washer smells fine but the dryer, when empty, has a hint of a sour smell to it.
I've vacuumed & cleaned the lint filter and removed the back panel to clean all of that. The lint filter and hose going into the wall both smell great (like the detergent we use) but the inside of the dryer where the clothes go stinks. We've cleaned it with lysol with no luck. Then we tried vinegar and still no luck. Then we tried bleach and once the bleach smell went away, the clothes still smell a little sour.
My wife swears the cat never got in it and peed, which was my first theory. Now I'm out of theories. The clothes are not damp at all and are fully dried when they come out. I just don't understand. Anyone ever had this problem before?

Have you popped the top off and looked inside the dryer? Dryers are fairly simple to break down. Youtube your model and they'll show you how

Try air drying some clothes and see if they smell. That would 100% eliminate the washing machine. My clothes were smelling fine when wet, then started smelling sour when dry.

It’s not the dryer it’s the washer
Use vinegar oxy clean wash and then dry front load washers new laundry detergent both suck take a load and try that

I'm having the same exact issue. Washer smells fine but dryer has a funky sour smell to it. Very strange

That's a COVID-19 symptom. Thoughts and prayers.

Add some borax to detergent when you wash.

High efficiency washers require way less detergent. Using too much detergent can cause this. We had same issue. Solved once detergent was reduced. Worth a try.

How long are the clothes staying in the washer before putting them in dryer? I can start a load at night, pass out, put them in the dryer in the morning and they get a slight sour smell.

You using Pods? Talked to a guy from Proctor & Gamble and we were using pods. He said mix borax in and it will make it go away. Or switch to powder detergent and eliminate pods and borax. We use Gain Powder now and dry fit clothes and cottons all smell clean.

Same here & my dryer isn’t 2 months old
I’m going to try this
1: Run a cycle with bleach and hot water (1:1).
2: Run a second hot cycle with 2 cups of white distilled vinegar, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of water.
3: Use water to clean the rubber seal around the lip of the washing machine. 4: Remove the soap dispenser and wash thoroughly with soap and water.

Also try using a dishwasher pod on the soak cycle, will help remove stuck on gunk

If you have a front loading washer machine, leave the door cracked open after using.

Alternatively, put it on the street on garbage day and get a top load washing machine. It's a better fix for your problem.

This. Anytime I've ever had that sour smell was a result of letting the clothes sit wet too long before drying.

Yes m, had same problem and finally got husband to deep clean lint screen to get all lint out as lot was not attaching to screen. Also found the rest of the vent had bent when previously moving and cleaning. I was having to dry clothes several cycles.

I did that once, just once many years ago. I put on a load of wash early in the morning and went to work on a hot summer day. My utility room was in the house but didn't have an A/C vent in it, just the washer, dryer and water heater.
I got home that afternoon, put the clothes in the dryer and all seemed fine. I put on one of the shirts and went out to shoot pool with friends and about an hour later my shirt smelled like a dog pissed on it. I knew exactly why and when I got home I rewashed all the clothes and dried them immediately.
Never have done that again.
