IMO LVP is really awesome for:
- Laundry rooms
- Certain kinds of bathrooms or bedrooms
- Bonus rooms
- Play rooms
- Mud rooms
- Home gyms
- Rent houses
I personally would not prefer it in my living room, kitchen, master bed/bath.

We bought a house in that price range a few months ago. We replaced all the carpet in the downstairs bedrooms and all the upstairs with vinyl planks. We used Corelock. We got it from a local wholesale flooring company for $2.39/ft. The one we chose was an SPC which is a stone-plastic composite. We have 2 small kids so we wanted something durable, easy to clean and waterproof.

What would you suggest for “wood” like flooring?
Porcelain or ceramic wood plank, higher cost and install though.

Right, so basically places you don’t want people to see.
The problem is people get to the end of the project and flooring is always the last thing when the budget is tight and it’s an “easy” way to save money.

We have white oak wood floors and 3 dogs (2 big, 1 small). When we get ready to move the floors will need to be refinished but after 12 yrs they would need to be regardless of dogs or not.
We did install in the master bedroom since the floors were carpet and it was very expensive. Like $3-4k for a room that’s around 20x20 maybe a little bigger.

Lvt floors are basically the sweatpants of flooring. Comfortable, cheap, easy to maintain, not really for public areas. They basically say I’m lazy and gave up on trying.

I just put down Coretec HD Plus.
I just built a house that, sadly, cost me way more than $350K and I have this in my house, and so far so good.

Personally, I would only put down vinyl in my home in very specific areas for specific reasons: kid's areas, and/or laundry or mud room.
Other areas like living, kitchen, dining...no way. Don't care how practical it is; I'll save up for nicer flooring because it does make an impact.
Doing a home renovation next year and I decided that after this renovation, the things I'm never changing while owning this house: floors, kitchen cabinets, and countertops. That said, I'm spending money there and saving costs elsewhere that can be changed later if I want.

We went with wood look porcelain tiles throughout. Cost around $17,500 if I remember right for 2860 living. I like having the same flooring in every room gives it a seamless flow.
