Sorry. For some reason I lost my train of thought.
It depends on how detailed you want to get. My typical regimen is as follows:
Clean rims first then wash tires.
Foam cannon the entire body and let it soak for 5 minutes.
Quick rinse.
Foam cannon panels and use a sponge for each individually.
Rinse.
Dry car (windows first, then body)
Dry wheels and tires.
Apply tire dressing.
Vacuum inside and do leather and apply dressing.
Should do it for a monthly wash.
Sometimes I'll pull the wheels and scrub the wheel wells about every 6 month.

I don't care how you wash it, the important thing is to dry it, especially the glass before the water dries on it. It is vital living in N.O. with all the hard water and minerals in it. Don't dry the glass and it will spot in a heartbeat as it dries.
My wash regimen is pretty basic. I hose the entire car prior to washing to get off any big stuff. Wash with a sponge and soapy water, start with the top and glass and rinse. Then hit the hood, trunk and bumpers----rinse.
Then hit the side panels and rinse. I do the rims, tires and wheel wells last as they are the dirtiest.
Dry everything off and then open the doors, hood and trunk and wipe down all those surfaces with a damp rag to get all that dirt.
Then address the interior with vacuuming and wiping down. Anything that needs deep cleaning like cloth seats or carpet with small stains, hit that with the foam cleaner, a stiff brush and wipe it off. Then clean all interior glass surfaces.

Drive through Benny's or Geaux Clean. Who's got the time or desire to hand wash a car these days?

Me.
Some people like gardening, others like cutting grass, etc. I like to wash my cars; it gives me a chance to relax. If its not for you, Great. Different people, different priorities.

3 buckets - 1 for wheels, 1 for suds, 1 for rinsing the wash Mits. All must have grit guards. I have two grit guards in my rinse bucket.
Foam cannon the car
Let it dwell-purpose is to let the soap pull the dirt down and off the car
Clean wheels and tires with a wheel brush(s) and tire brush plus a dedicated cleaner during this dwelling process
Rinse with a suitable power washer that shoots enough water but won’t take off paint
Foam cannon again
Wash using several mits and a good carwash soap. I’ve been using Meguairs Gold Class and am happy with it. Start at top of car. Every panel rinse the mit. In the rinse bucket taking care of getting any gradeau off the mit. Change mits a few times.
Rinse with the power washer.
Dry with a battery powered lawn blower
Dry again with a good drying towel. I like the Griots waffle weave. Use a drying aid during this process. I like Bead Maker and/or a generic wax as you dry product. This part of the step enhances gloss and helps keep micro scratches to a minimum.
Wipe down with Bead Maker
Apply a Tire Shine to whatever gloss level you prefer

I got the ceramic wax which is awesome too I just need to clay bar the car to get the finish like it should be. Just been waiting for it to warm up a bit to get into that. I got the chemical guys ceramic

Chemical Guys
Griots
Maquires
Turtle wax has decent stuff if you get the more expensive
There are probably other brands too I just find that these are usually readily available. I was surprised that my local Walmart has chemical guys.

I have an MTM You can get it at Detailers Domain or Obsessed Garage. I've bought from both and they do a good job. I got my Kranzell pressure washer from Obsessed Garage.
Foam Cannon
Just to make sure you know, you need a pressure washer with a foam cannon. Probably already knew that but just in case...
