Any of y’all have experience with these? How do they work for a screened in patio in S LA? Why are these 3x the cost of the ones at lowes and stines?

Thanks

I heard they all work like shite in high humidity areas.

I hear opposite sides of the spectrum…. Those who have them love them and others say it’s garbage.

There's been other threads. Evaporative cooling works best in low humidity areas. In LA it's marginal at best.

Im aware. But I’m asking about the Cajun koolers in particular. They’re local and claim to be better than the rest so was looking for ppl with experience.

I know someone who has a big one that uses it on their patio and it feels great. Idk if having it in a screened in porch would be good or not though.

I fill my reservoir with ice and water. You definitely have to be in direct range of the blast.

I have an enclosed patio with windows. Just ordered a DIY mini split.

you'd probably get pretty close to the wet bulb temp which is ~80F in hot months. If you do get one I think you'd need to move the wet air out of your patio to allow unsaturated air in. Otherwise it wont do anything

I have 2 small cheap evap coolers I got from home depot.

I fill with water and then dump some of the frozen ice pack in the tank. They work fairly well, they will drop the temp about 5 degrees. The cool breeze feels good when its hot.

Id imagine those bigger units would work much better.

I bought a Hessaire cooler a couple years ago. I absolutely love it!! I got it at Stines. I got the biggest one they made.

No clue, but that’s why I bought the Hessaire at Stines.

Pour some Florida water in there. Trust me

Or just fill the entire tank with rubbing alcohol. Pretty much the only way those things work down here.

You can't brand over physics. They suck. Doesn't matter how well the water is atomized in 100% humidity.

I know people do this, but I can't help but think cooling the water inhibits the 'evaporation' part of cooling.

On hot dry summer days, especially mid day when humidity is lowest, these can work OK. But when the ambient temperature starts dropping late in the day the humidity goes up, and any temperature reduction goes away as the evaporation stops.

We have owned one for 4 years and it is great. I recommend them. We have a sitting area under roof next to a shop and use it spring, summer and fall. Many will give you a physics lesson but the bottom line they work.

I have a commerical ice machine and fill up the reservoir with ice or frozen milk jugs along with water during the hottest part of the summer and its like having an AC blowing on you. They are located in Broussard so I was able to pick mine up. Once I broke the plug "my fault", I called to see what can be done. They said if possible drop off and they would repair it which I did. It was repaired in less than an hour with minimal cost.

The wife and I are selling our house and moving into an RV so we are selling most of what we own. I have two neighbors who visit often wanting to buy it.

It depends on what you’re using them for.

We have 4 at work. We put them in the shade at water stations so the guys can get some cool air and water and get back to work. In that capacity it works much better than just a box fan. But I wouldn’t rely on it to provide “cooling.”

I have one. It will NOT keep the entire patio cool whatsoever if that’s your goal. As stated, you have to be in direct range. That being said, it’s perfect for what I need it for.

I sit out back nearly everyday and just park it about 6 feet away from me. It’ll drop the temperature roughly 10° up close (more with ice but it melts too quickly). And coupled with the fact it’s blowing cooler air, it truly makes all the difference for me when it’s hot as balls 90-100° outside.

I’ve tested it versus large regular fan only and there’s no contest. The regular fan just blows the hot air without achieving any measurable temperature drop.
