Do you use it often? Is it worth a monthly fee?

What brand do you use?

Why would there be a monthly fee?

I have liftmaster garage door openers and their MyQ wifi system and app. Little bit of a pain to setup, but after that works awesome. No fee, just need wifi signal where the openers are.

Apparently Chamberlain/Liftmaster has a "Built-IN Wi-Fi® and MyQ® connectivity" app and "hub" that you have to pay a monthly fee to remotely open and close the door. Its hard to find in the literature.

Can you remote close the door without the monthly subscription?

installed it because my wife kept driving off and forgetting to close the garage door.

automatically closes after set time
automatically opens when i get within a certain distance
can open/close with my phone or Google Home
no monthly subscription

I have one through ADT so no extra monthly fee. We hardly ever use, but my wife has God awful anxiety about feeling like we left the garage door open, so I basically bought one to give her piece of mind/prevent me from having to turn around and check every damn time we go somewhere

I have the Chamberlain MyQ and I do not pay a fee.

Its not something we use a lot, but it is nice to double check to see if the door is closed after we leave. Or to close it from the back yard or bedroom when I remember I have not shut it.

i hate myQ after chamberlain started with the bullshite IFTTT fees and when i replaced my 2 garage doors, the system I bought isn't compatible with chamberlain products anyway so i gave my 2 myQ units to my FiL.

plus if you have an alexa and say 'good night' it will lock all your doors *and* shut any open garage doors with the nexx units. chamberlain refuses to allow alexa access to control the garage doors.

they're just being dicks.

The Nexx product is an add-on it looks like to a opener system? Does it work well with a google hub?

I added the Nexx Opener to our old school genie and it works great. No subscription fee and I can open/close the door from anywhere Also works with my Amazon Echo, but the skill is a little lame so we just use the phone app.

Set up was not that bad, the sensor took a few tweaks to get lined up properly.

well i believe it came from the time when they allowed smarthings integration. But Chamberlain are anal fricktards and routed all traffic through their servers instead of allowing the ST's to talk directly to the MyQ. and Chamberlain's servers crashed. here is a work around but you have to get a generic tilt sensor and edit the code for it to work.

How does nexx handle multiple garage doors? Have to buy one for each?
