Any thoughts on this A/C electrical issue?

Two separate AC guys have tried and both were stumped.
Rheem keeps blowing fuse and transformer. They tried new circuit board, rewired whole unit from inside to outside, etc and can’t find the problem. As soon as they plug it in the fuse blows immediately. I don’t know what fuse or where it is, but I’m 0 for 2.

It's probably the fuse on the motherboard itself. Check it yourself - it's usually 5A

How olds the unit? DId they test the volts/ amps going to the fuse that's blowing? It wouldn't be the first time the new part from the factory was also bad.

10 yrs old. Same problem with new and old board. They said it’s getting 24v outside whatever that means

That sounds like a dead short, something has continuity where it shouldn't. Not hard to diagnose with a multimeter with a continuity function.

I'm not an AC guy but did they test the compressor? Mine was blowing fuses when it was starting to go bad. It starts pulling more power.

That fuse usually blows when the 24 volts is shorted out. Which is frequently done when replacing the capacitor outside.

As they rewired the low voltage wire from the furnace/air handler (inside) to the outside condensor and measured 24 V, at the contactor, there could be a short in the 24V coil inside the contactor that is in the condensing unit.
All they have to do is isolate (remove) those wires from the contactor, have the thermostat call for cooling, and if the fuse on the control board doesn’t blow, then the contactor is likely bad and needs to be replaced. If the fuse still blows, then the problem is likely associated with wiring, a short, inside the furnace-air handler, or low votage wiring from the thermostat to the furnace.
