Just install this, tee off to the fridge and have a filtered faucet on your sink and be done with it. Just did this a few weeks ago. Makes sparkling clean ice, best cold water ever as well.

changed mine yesterday. When I poured it out, lots of black shite came out of it. I would suspect that not changing it for a long time would lead to more black shite than I saw.

Death isn't my issue. It's how fricking slow the water comes out when it's time to change.

its gonna be one of these at around $10 each LINK

once you know the filter cartridge number search using that rather then the model and brand fridge and you find even cheaper bulk options to buy several at one time

You do know those have filters in them that have to be changed too, right?

come on man, of course I do. You can see the things in the housings in the picture I posted. But they last way longer and are way cheaper and produce the absolutely cleanest water possible thru RO/DI filtration.

Man you are lucky... my GE fridge requires GE RPWFE filters and there isn't a place on the internet cheaper than $42 each

I bought the knock off filters from amazon for ours and the water started stinking. We don't have well water, either.

We took out our old Brita filter/tank combo and stuck that in the Fridge recently and our water tastes MUCH better and doesn't stink anymore. We just refill it every day and it's good to go.

I don't know about every model, but Amazon cracked down on counterfeit fridge filters last year. Customs was even catching them at the ports. Whirlpool Corporation must've been losing tons of money on it.
