Put my transplants in the ground yesterday afternoon. The forecast for the next 10 days is looking amazing!

That's my plan for the weekend. And looks like 6" of rain right after planting potatoes didn't hurt. They're starting to break through.

My average last spring frost date is March 10th. What has served me well over the years is waiting until at least March 15th, looking at the extended forecast, and if there are no cold days predicted then its go time.

Mine is 3/22, but if the weekend of, I don't see anything 10 days out, I'll take that calculated risk on transplanting.

Besides, most of what I start is from seed anyway. So it's practically no risk.

Ehh it's well worth the risk if you're ok with having to cover stuff. In my back yard I'm up against the clock with canopy from a sycamore that leafs out mid March and pecan the first week of April. So stuff gets in the ground in February. This year it worked out great since we had late April weather all through Feb and March. This week was a blip.

My blue Hubbards survived. My zucchinis are just busting the surface. Bring on the moths!

2 packs at $4/pack vs. $1 per plant for 76 plants... I'm cheap

I am replanted, added a few more tomatoes and a bunch more marigolds. Added some poblanos and Hungarian wax peppers. Cucumbers wound up being toast so I planted some seeds, also seeded kajari melon, Thai basil, edamame, bush beans and Mexican tarragon

I still have carrots and beets in the beds from the winter I’ll deal with those at some point. If it freezes again I’m moving to Panama

I put mine out two weeks ago and repotted them in 4-6” pots. I just put them back out today. They actually have taken this better than I expected.

All my plants survived the cold snap in the shop sitting undet a light.

At some point this weekend I hope to stick a few in the wife's raised beds. I till crank up the mean machine and turn over the row garden spot today. The deer have about stopped eating the greenfield i planted for them anyway.

My rule of thumb is Good Friday. Learning the long range forecast I finished getting all my seedlings in this morning. Cucumbers were overdue to get in.
Fingers crossed now there's no late freeze.

Bonnie has a variety called “mammoth” that I’ve planted before that does indeed make very large fruits. Lowe’s and Home Depot have them
