We’ve got the room for an extra bed or three but I’m going to hold off for now - want to get through a season and see that I actually like doing it before making that commitment - thanks for the comment.

Went to the local nursery and picked up 6 okra plants and 6 squash — so I’m at 4 tomato plants, 6 okra, 6 squash, 2 peppers, 1 zucchini and 1 strawberry and a few herbs for 2-4x8 beds.

Sounds like to much - recommendations?

6 okra will make enough pods to feed your entire neighborhood unless you really like okra

Not everyone plows up half the world for a garden like you

I know a guy that plants 1/4 acre of okra. He’s missing fingers on one hand including his thumb. I always wonder how he picks all that okra. And then what the hell do you do with that much okra.

Haha my wife and in-laws love it… sorry I meant 12 plants of okra, sounds like I’ll be feeding half of the town then..

Is it good to prune watermelon vines to leave one main stem? More energy to produce fruit on that lone vine???

That's crazy. At most, we've done a 50' row. That usually gives us as much fresh as we want, some to pickle, and plenty to put up for gumbo.

I have no idea on the tomatoes - which do they need to be?

Indeterminate will produce tomatoes semi-continuously and determinate will produce a bunch all at once then stop. Depends on what you want to do with them.

Sauce - determinate so you get a bunch at once.

Eat some each week - indeterminate.

I don't prune the vine, but I am going to limit each vine to 2-3 fruits this year. I'm not a watermelon expert, though.

Caught the critter that was enjoying the strawberries.

He got a free trip to the river down the road

I had a trap on the porch sitting aside to use another time. A opossum walked in and set the trap off!. No bait. I let him go right there on the porch. They do me favors around here. I don't have strawberries though.

I’m pretty sure that’s what this dumbass did. Think bugs had finished off the cat food.

Are we EVER going to be done with the cold weather?

I don't guess DOGE has made it to cutting off the weather machine yet.

Snow last weekend, record heat yesterday and I left my seedlings outside too long. I have 2 trays of fried micro greens.
