Can anyone tell me what this goop is that just appeared? I sprayed it off once, then it was back.

Slime mold. Completely harmless.
It’s breaking down organic matter in your soil.

Well, this is a first. And if it happens again I think I’ll get rid of the sticky traps altogether. But they are certainly effective.
Her feathers were a little messed up but I got her off of there and she flew away.

I stopped for the same reason. Wrens are all over every inch of my back yard and patio.

I'm assuming she was after the bugs that were stuck to the sticky trap. Is this a house wren? I know you're a little better with bird ID's than I am.

She looks very inconvenienced

Pretty sure it's a Carolina.

Does anyone here grow sunflowers? I got me a row seed planter and tore up a 30X10 patch. I’m interested to see how it goes

What is a high yield bush bean I can plant now? I want something that makes a lot of beans in a small place, since we are renting this year I didn't do my trellises of beans everywhere. Nothing better than country style green beans made from fresh picked beans.

I've had good luck with Blue Lake Bush Beans. They can be planted between March and August in South Louisiana.
What I do is make fairly wide rows (18-24 inches across) and double plant the row after I flatten the row to remove the high crown. I plant the seeds about 6 inches off the edge of the row on each side.
The only issue with them is they are prolific bearers, but relatively short lived when compared to pole beans, but pole beans don't bear as much at any one time, just for a longer time.

I planted sunflowers in the corners of each of my beds.

Juice, go to Harbor Freight and get one of their larger cement mixers
That sounds... expensive

My main problem is timing on the browns and greens. I get a big pile of fall leaves in January, but they just sit there until about now when there are enough grass clippings to match.

I have about a dozen Mammoth Russian sunflowers that have made it so far and are about 2 foot tall. I believe Pillage grows them as well.

Next step is to make some good compost at a usable volume.
I live in N.O. in Mid-City and near the Canal St. Cemeteries and I head over there a few times a year to collect the grass clippings the landscapers bag up and just toss into a big dumpster. I get there early enough to let them know I'll head back to get them and instead of them picking them up, they let them by the curbs in the cemetery and I toss them in my truck bed.
I'll use some in the compost pile, but most of it goes between the rows in a deep layer on top of cardboard to help with weed control and keeping the soil moist by not being exposed to the sunlight.
By the time I'm ready for the next growing season, all that organic matter has decomposed and can be turned under. Win/Win

Yep. Same. About a dozen mammoths growing right now between 2-3’ tall and growing!

I had some Mongolian Giants and Arikara planted. They were doing really well (about 2ft tall) and then my wife's dog decided to eat them on Monday. I just replanted them on Tuesday.

I have a GeoBin from Amazon. I put leaf/grass clipping in it along with any food scraps, fish heads, squirrel guts, etc. I mix it every ~2 weeks with a drill auger. It's working pretty well. I add it to my raised beds every spring and start over.
