Thanks! I tried my best to avoid half-assing it like the majority of my other "woodworking" projects . I am not a carpenter.

I plantes about 25 corn seeds a few weeks ago and only 4 came up. Should I plant more seeds or keep waiting? They are seeds I bought last year that did great.

Can't hurt to plant more. How deep did you plant them? I tried some a few years back and had mixed results as well. I think the recommended planting depth was between 1.5-3" so I did 1.75". Less than half came up.

The Louisiana Planting Guide has a recommended planting depth of 1/2 inch for sweet corn. LINK

I went by Home Depot yesterday for a project and passed through the garden section. Maybe 1/10 of their vegetable plants should even be for sale.

Pretty much. I went to Southern Roots today on my lunch break to replace the massacre and picked up some:

Pineapple Tomato
Brandywine
Bella Rosa
Marconi
Aristotle
Eggplant

Heard good things about Bella Rosa's from a few older gentlemen I know. These will be the first determinants I ever grow. We shall see how they do.

Am I going to be terribly late if I wait on the tomato/pepper seeds I planted yesterday instead of going buy seedlings?

Yes. You may get something out of your peppers because they hold up a little better into summer, but it's much too late to start tomato seeds. Tomatoes (except cherries) stop setting fruit once it gets into the 90s. Definitely go buy some from the store.

Damn, that's what I was worried about. Will do.

My father-in-law grows them every year. They’re a good tomato for sure. I grew some last fall, but I didn’t get much out of them before the first freeze.

The freeze got my black eye peas and green bean plants. I am not worried about that given how fast they grow. Everything else came out okay though.

The ants have now built a literal bed under the dirt around my swiss chard. I am flushing them out with water, again. I thought I had eradicated them, but apparently they were just in hiding.

This was some fancy hybrid. It said to go 1 inch, so I was probably 1.5 to 2.5 cm.

You can’t mix standard and communist units. That’s your mistake!

I’ve been buying more every year. But I’ve been wanting to try seed saving. If some of my heirlooms do well this year maybe I’ll give it a try.

I’ve been saving sunflower and okra seeds for a long time. Can’t remember the last time I bought any of those. But those are super easy to save.

Finished up the transplanting last night. Everything is in. 35 tomatoes and 43 peppers. Sowed corn again...the cold stunted germination in the last batch. Spuds are popping. Should see snap beans this week. Butter bean, pea, cucumber, zucchini, and squash seed sowed midweek.

Yes, I had a drink last night

Well deserved it sounds like!

I’m off of work today so I’m out in the garden right now enjoying a cup of coffee. About to sow purple hulls, edamame, blue lake stringless pole beans, watermelon, and cucumbers. And that’ll be it until it’s time to plant pumpkins.
