Have some spurge that is popping up with VBW. Hit it with Celsius xtra at 22gm per gallon. Been about 10 days the VBW is purpling but the spurge didn’t even check up ! My st aug is definitely yellowing so I’m reluctant to hit it again especially with this heat. I’ve been keeping my turf watered as well as I can to reduce water stress.
Any suggestions or just wait it out and hand pull/hit it again ?

I'd personally wait it out another week or 2 before hitting it with anything else. Hate to kill your st Aug just trying to clear the spurge. Hand pulling never hurts in the interim.

I have a couple spots in my St. Augustine that are struggling. Last fall I had what I thought was brown patch. I treated with BioAdvanced Fungus Control. This spring I took a rake to these areas to pull out any dead grass and put down some topsoil. The spots were growing in fine until about a week ago. I went offshore for 7 days and when I returned home I noticed the grass is dying around these areas.

Any ideas of what I may be dealing with?

Is it too late to put out MSM for Bahia grass? What rate should be used?

What is this type of weed and what product do I use to get rid of it? This is burmuda in dfw.

I'm south of you closer to Austin and have the same stuff, with a few crabgrass spots in a Bermuda lawn.

If I wanted 1 thing to handle the nutsedge and the crabgrass both, would Sedgehammer still be the product of choice?

Furthermore, is it wise to apply this now in this heat or should I wait another month or two for temps to come down?

^ don’t know but watching. Get it early, it only gets much worse. Sections of our Bermuda are totally gone, replaced by nutsedge.

Is it too hot to apply MSM if I do it early in the morning before temps reach 85?

I've hit my yard with Celcius Xtra twice now over the last 2 months and the spurge never even flinched. It's like it never happened. The VBW turned yellow but does not seem to be dying. Can I hit it again? It's been about 2 weeks since the last time I did it.

I hit mine with xtra also, but added a small smidge of msm to the mix, still hardly flinched as well.

I think I just need to do better next year with a later 2nd application of pre emg to help control the later germination of spurge.

I can’t comment on doing another app, but depending on what rate you used, you made need to just ride it out.

Just grab some Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns. The concentrate is about $10 at Lowe’s.

Image Nutsedge is about $20.

I know it’s not one thing, but it’s worth a try for $30

I don't have firsthand experience. Never tried the granular.

at long last the heat wave broke and i was able to fill my new raised beds...40CY of a mixture of sand/bark/manure/clay.

my irrigation invention didnt work so i'm going to make grids out of drip pipe next weekend. if all goes well, i'll add a couple inches of compost to the top of each bed, then a couple inches of mulch, and plant cover crops for the winter

whoops, meant to put this in the garden thread

$20.49 for a packet of Celsius. Is this a good price?

Amazon says undeliverable to my area. Otherwise, I would have gotten a packet.
