Yup that's what I would do if you just want to kill everything there. Just don't do it on a windy day. Spray it, rake it and clear out the dead stuff. Wait a week or 2 and spray again. And then a couple days later put down your sod or start your seeding process.

Thanks, didn’t know if round up would be an issue when growing new grass.

Yeah, round up gets absorbed through leaves and doesn't have any residual in the soil. Technically you can put seed down the day of using round up, but most people wait a few days.

Anybody else’s lawn get bitchslapped by the freeze? My shite was green……not now lol.

Mine didn’t get hit too bad. It was a brief dip below freezing. Less than an hour total.
My Princess 77 was greening up quite a bit after my scalp and bag last weekend. If I had to guess my scalp was .75” and I chopped the longer stuff down at 1.25 with the riding mower. The rain and mild temps this week should help move it along.
I really need to get a soil test. I skipped it last year.

Fescue grass
This guy has a lot of of lawn logic to help anyone out. I had a difficult time finding info about fescue until I found this. He seems to prefer using other grasses though.

Lawn made it out okay (even my little kbg sprouts).
My fig tree came out of dormancy and sprouted some new leaves last week...but now they are all floppy and pathetic looking. So...we'll see what they do
tree is only in year 2.
Otherwise, I finally finished my hedging for the spring today and we'll be able to just focus on the lawn for a for a bit. I also adjusted the bedknife on my reel, but think I put it just a hair to close, so will need to readjust some time soon.

So I blanketed my entire yard this weekend with the winter cocktail. What’s next and when? Thx.

What does winter cocktail do. I have clovers big time but kill grass every time I fertilize

I'd wait around 3 weeks then spray it again... after that only use it for spot treatment. Then around mid April you'll be ready to fertilize.

It's a selective herbicide that kills a number of weeds, but doesn't harm the grass when used properly

My grass was looking very green before the freeze hit, now it's yellow again. My fig tree also had some buds, but now they look dead. My crape myrtles were budding, but now they are bare. Our schizophrenic weather played hell with my yard.

As Glock17 said, selective herbicide and it will kill covers, plus a numerous broadleaf and grassy weeds, but you can not use it on a Bermudagrass lawn if the Bermudagrass is not dormant.
I’m interested in your comment that you are killing grass when fertilizing. What are you using, weed & feed, something else? How much are applying per 1000 sq ft?

Is there something other than atrazine in winter cocktail? The thread I found says just atrazine and surfactant. If so, why not just say atrazine and surfactant?

Have some giant bare spots from Ida debris in my front yard I want to get growing again.
I pulled some grass from shrubs I planted last fall and then did a patchwork of 4x4” pieces. We’ll see how it does. I’ve got a good bit of weeks popping out as well.
Sodding is probably the best answer

Yeah it also has this:
1 ounce Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone (Active ingredients 2,4-D, MCPA, Dicamba, Carfentrazone)

Have st Aug and centipede lawn. Put down lesco granular pre and post emergents 2 weeks ago at 4#/1000. Not seeing any post emergent effects on the clovers or other weeds in the yard. How long should the post emergent take?

Mixed properly, are msm turf and Celsius safe to use around boxwoods?

Assuming you did one of their weed and feed? Can take up to 3 weeks for post emergent effect.
Not to get into the whole weed and feed issue.
But Granular post emergent weed control is hard. Usually most the weed and feed products will tell you to irrigate/water your yard first(or can do it in the morning when the dew is out) so that way the granules stick to the leaves. If you don't get that application then the weeds won't die off.
I would say if you don't have any effect another week out, I would go out and spot spray to kill off weeds.
