Giving up on my back yard. It's been wet since November it seems like and the St Augustine is disappearing and being replaced by poa annua. Once that dies off with the heat I don't know if I'll have anything left but dirt

Should I drop some weed and feed in my yard even if my grass is still brown. This time last year even with snow my grass was perfect. It started to green a little until the cold spell this past week. Finally cut it for the first time yesterday, should I drop some weed and feed? Or wait until it greens up first.

Mine looks like shite. I'm going to wait for a dry spell and then attack it. I have been slowly accumulating post emergent, fertilizer and other necessary items for this year. Soon, I will spray Talstar and Suspend for pests.

I'm in the plant and relocate shrubbery phase. The ground is great digging right now. I will remulch the beds once the pollen is done.

Now is the time to weed. Once weeds are gone and your turfgrass is active, feed it.

I put the Milogeanite on it today thinking I had missed my window to spread the pre-emergent since all the weeds are already actively growing.

Anything I can do?

Spray the weeds, that way your turfgrass gets the main benefit on any fertilization

What should I spray them with?
I’m nervous because the last time I tried to kill the weeds I killed the grass in and around them.

Need to know what weeds, and what type of lawn grass you have.

Sounds like you overdosed last time. Calibrating your sprayer so you know how much active ingredient you are spraying is very important.

Selective herbicides kill weeds, but too much can kill the good grass too. Different turf grasses can often use the same chemicals, but in different doses. Think of it like this: Tylenol is safe for humans, but that doesn't mean I take the same dosage as my 6 month old.

Last time the only thing I did was Scotts Weed and Feed. Killed clover and made huge brown spots.

So spot treat you said? With like a sprayer?

These are what is among my dormant centipede lawn:

Most is this.

Wild geranium, dichondra, and clover. Hit it with Weedfreezone. Can be bought most any farm supply store or big box store.

I just sprayed 2-4D all over the place yesterday. The broad leaves are everywhere.

I had Poa in a few spots and I hit it with Image for nut sedge. It killed off the Poa really well last year.

Hopefully, Ill see some results in a few days. I had a bad sod-worm moth infestation last year. They chewed up a bunch of St. Aug before I realized they were there. The VBW came in behind it. I've got some work to do this year.

How thick are you supposed to lay wheat straw when seeding?

Thick but still able to see soil?

Alright fellas, I am starting from scratch build a house that finished in November and haven't been able to do anything until now. Live on a half acre. I will be planting some sod soon around the main areas of the front and back yard, and perimeter of the house. What kind of sod do you guys recommend and also should I seed the areas around the sod with something else? TIA

You the man!

Thanks so much!

One last thing:
I put the Milogranite down thinking the rain would set it. No rain. And none expected for a week.
Just leave it and reapply later, or water it this week?

Update: Weed free zone has managed to kill everything. Including the grass. Pretty sure I got my dosage wrong and over treated my yard....

PSA:

Don't weed and feed your yard if you think you have any fungus issues going on. Pretty sure this is what hammered my backyard last year.
