Yeah, I find the iPhone version to have a much better layout. Also a jump to bottom feature which is major on the phone.
But I have an Android now, thus my wanting for the iPhone mobile version.

Yesterday I could still use the full search feature on my android. Now it's just author.

what about replicating the database to another database server and using it for the searches?

Correct. But, if there are no indexes it can be even worse. If you put the words "our search feature sucked" in the subject field of a search, it can work two ways. It can search every word of the database looking for this phrase, then only return the results that are in the subject field. Or, it can be indexed to where it only searches the subject field itself. Obviously, this is quicker and would not take up as much resources.

chicken, 1 thing that would be cool if it could work, is for the google search to only bring up results from that specific board you are trying to search, rather than the whole entire site.

Well, I'm a nega-searcher. Really, my dislike of it is that it's not in any kind of chronological order ... and I liked the idea of "jumping to post" or seeing whole topic.
Wish I had suggestions but I'm computer studpid.

We are working on a solution that bring the old way back but limits the search range to a shorter period (eg, posts created in the last two weeks).
Anything beyond that and you will have to use the google custom search.

what if you gave an option to select which two week period we would like to search? it would still be limited, but would allow someone to narrow their search if they have an idea of the time frame.
