Are threads on religious topics prohibited on this site?

I’ve had a thread recently deleted and have seen many comments that the admins don’t allow religious topics.

I’ve searched the site including using google and I can’t find anything about such a prohibition.

I did find that threads can get deleted for immature behavior and flaming. People feel strongly about their deeply held beliefs and discussions could get heated. Would an entire 8 page thread only 12 hours old be deleted because of a couple of immature posts within the thread?

I’m just looking for clarity from the admins.

ETA: if this topic is permitted, what would be the most appropriate forum for it? Political? OT? Other?

Religious threads are usually anchored or deleted, no matter what board they’re on.

OT or political. There's currently a dude spewing crap about Jews, and the thread is still alive. There's a good bit of Jew hate here that sticks around. I don't mind, it's a window into the psychology of morons.

I like bantering with people I don't agree with, but there are a couple of knuckleheads I'd rather not waste time reading at all. We need DM capability and the ability to ignore users.

I do not believe that the rules against Religion conversations are enforced in any consistent manner. I have seen threads go on for many pages when the topic of the conversation is something that the Pope did or something that a Catholic Priest did.

I would very much like the rules to be enforced around here, because I do get tired of fighting against the Roman Catholic Hate that I routinely see on Tigerdroppings.

Well if the pope or something that a catholic priest did was in the news than it may not necessarily be a religious thread, it they certainly devolve into them.

I don’t see why people want to try and discuss actual religious topics on this board, they always become insult fests between the believers and non believers. No one group will convince the other of their beliefs here.

If that is your standard for allowing topics to be posted then it is time to shut the entire board down. Most topics are insult fests and never change anyones mind.

I don't believe "Religion" discussions have ever originated as slap-fests between Believers vs Non-Believers to begin with.

99% of "religion" subjects are discussions BY Believers over doctrinal issues, idiosyncrasies, and inappropriate actions of "leadership" being called out or challenged (again -- BY Believers )

"Religious" threads aren't intended to be shoot-outs between Believers and Non-Believers -- yet, these threads are invariably invaded, trolled and sabotaged by "non-Believers"/ Atheists.

Not fair to those who are conducting serious debates, often several pages long -- only to have the thread deleted over a couple of exchanges that get over-heated.

A board "RELIGION & PHILOSOPHY" category is desperately needed.

Legit points.

Though most thread discussions are informative, high-fives, reinforcement of consensus, or legit debate, yes, insults and flaming will occur in any vigorous forum (problems arise from Habitual Trolls.)

Re: "Changing Minds" -- This may or may not be happening; debate points add weight to topic claims.

Right, they don’t originate as or they aren’t intended as slapfests…that’s why I said

Hey fella I don’t make the rules here. I also don’t understand why this or any of the site rules are so hard to follow.

I don’t give a flyin’ eph who makes the rules. I gave a direct response to your post, which apparently was unrelated to whatever unwritten rules you arbitrarily enforce based on whether an insult and inability to change peoples’ mind is included in the topic for it to not be whacked. You guys are overpaid. You all lost any sort of credibility when you let Covid run rampant (despite numerous suggestions that you should have nipped that in the bud) on so many boards and now just apply the fictional rules arbitrarily based on personal viewpoints. Hillbilly!!!
