I started really training and eating well in 2005, and I've tried a bunch of shite since then.

By far the worst was GOMAD (Gallon of Milk a Day); tried back when I cared about bulking.

Internet bros really latched on to Rippetoe advocating this as a tactic and there was also this thing going around that a lifting male should be close to 200lbs min.

I tried it for 6wks and was bloated, fat, and mucousy - and I think I added an extra 5lbs to the bar.

I can't think of anything specifically. The only thing I regret doing is not following a program exactly. I did the gallon of milk thing and got good results. I also took lactose pills during that time.

Jumping on the Vibram 5 Finger fad for running (they are still the GOAT kayak shoe) and almost ripping my pinky toe off when I snagged a root trail running

I've been known to do a juice cleanse or two back in the day

Never again

Lol I did a juice and colon cleanse one weekend. Had to block off a day of just sitting at home.

Mind sharing why? I've never done it but I've always thought it'd be an option if I had to go an extended period of time without access to a gym (which is very possible for me)

it's just hard. you burn 200 calories in the warm up. i got pretty roasted the first month, built up a tolerance. then month 2 ratchets it up to 11. i lost 60 lbs on insanity.

it's a fantastic workout. if you do it and don't lose weight you need to take a good long hard look at your diet.

Probably the worst was sticking to +500 of TDEE everyday no matter what. I was gaining mass but it wasn't showing in the mirror, at the time it was the understood was to bulk.

The other was eating every 3-4 hours making sure I was getting protein to "fuel my body". Now I eat two meals a day in the evening.

I thought that running was the secret to weight loss. Ran 5 marathons and stayed pretty fat. That’s a lot of work to not get the results you’re after.im a slow learner.

I don't think I could be "fat" with the activity I do, but I'm not going to get a 6 pack anytime soon. Extreme caloric burning sessions are met with extreme caloric intake sessions, haha. I swam with a masters group earlier this week and had a bad arse workout. Picked up a milkshake on the way home and finished off half a lasagna . If id watch my diet a little I'd be tiny, but im also happy enough being skinny fat and eating like a 400 pounder right now. Life's about balance .

Worst thing I can think of is only because it's happening right now. Can't run due to Achilles tendonitis. Seeing a sports chiropractor. Suction cupping and acupuncture in my calf. Supposed to be helping, but that shite hurts. Acupuncture with electrical stimulation into your muscle is an awkward feeling more than pain while the needles are in, but turns to pretty legit soreness hours after. Cups freaking hurt too. Huge hickeys on my legs. And that didn't even touch the calf scraping/massage to get knots out
