Changing weights make my break time even longer on those

Fix this by pre-staging your 5% 1RM or whatever changes before you start. I don't take long enough between sets to let any po' foo' think they're coming over to take anything that I've staged and in the middle of using, or about to use.

I’m not very good with math and numbers to pre plan like that. I get in and then look at the workout for the day then go to my notes on my phone and find the %s.

Most people dont have a plan and have frickarounditis

BUT sometimes folks with detailed plans do have set long rest periods.

Whoever spends more than an hour at gym is not an adult with responsibilities.

I try and spend my entire lunch break at the gym. If I can get away and spend 1:30 there, then so be it. That is my only me time during the day. That is my stress relief.

When I get home, it's family time.

What if you train more than an hour but it’s not a gym?

I like a quicker pace but I work out at home and don't have to wait for machines at a gym. I can switch back and forth between exercises just by grabbing a different set of dumbbells. I usually knock out 30 minutes 3-4 days a week of strength training. It would probably take an hour at the gym.

I LOVE and i mean it, I f*cking love the stretch I get going slow on the eccentric for most movements. It's taxing and I've had to come down (alot) off some weights, but my joints feel good and the soreness is high for the lack of reps.

I gotta take breaks though or no way am I gonna bury a hack squat to the stops for 10 reps if I dont take 2-3 minutes off in between.

Israetel and the usuals got in my head about lifting slower and controlling the eccentric - and it finally stuck. I'm convinced I'm building muscle at a higher rate (with less injuries) slowing down and doing less movements over a longer period of time.

This is me, but I work out at home.

Op why…because research shows 3-5 min rest between sets is better for hypertrophy and strength and the same for fat loss. So why would I rush through?

This. If you’re actually lifting any weight then you need some real down time between sets. If not, your max effort will be lower and you won’t be getting as much out of a session.

But if you’re just showing up to race through light weights or the machines, then have at it. You do your thing, and let others do theirs.

I always shake my head at lifters that give shite to powerlifters for “taking a nap” between sets. It’s because they are actually lifting weights and need rest, not bounce around the gym doing Tricep kick backs and a hundred different curls. The real idiots are the circuit guys doing 3 stations that work the same muscle.

Also, if I want to look at my phone between sets, I will. I’m not standing there staring at the wall.
