Don't take this the wrong way...but you are way off on this one.
I'm a big boy lol I can take it.
Everyone always says "don't do nutrisystem because you never learn how to cook for yourself and learn the importance of proper diet" yet when it comes to things like this, I see conflicting ideals. Part of being a beginner is to learn when and how to deal with programming, nutrition, and recovery. Good programs are already built to have recovery periods. Having a proper program, sleeping, and nutrition is ALWAYS the backbone to any successful athlete. Having a watch tell you that you feel like shite isn't going to help anything. What are you gonna do? Just not practice or lift?
Take an example, you feel low energy and can't perform at peak, do technical lifts and drills and don't do extreme things. Listen to the body and don't rely on machines.
Now I CAN see this being beneficial for a program coordinator or coach that deals with many athletes with custom workouts but for any individual....Waste of money.

I emailed whoop about it and they told me that I shouldnt be focusing on the calories burned anyway lol.
So a useless feature they added. Hmmm

Just because you "feel low energy" doesn't mean you are. The body can have short term responses that may make you think you are low that day, but it can be primed for a high activity day.
The whole point of this device and its comparables is to aggregate data over time and give insights using numbers that are hard or impossible to gather using "feel"

Don't get mad at me because you can't perform without all your accessories.

That's called caffeine, Nancy.

While I agree with your premise, I still think it's useful even to guys like you and me, if for nothing more than to learn what helps you recover and to really have hard metrics.

Bumping this thread. Just ordered mine. Has anyone’s experiences changed with additional use or with product/software updates?

So I used it for 3 weeks and returned it. I wear a Garmin as my watch. So wearing 2 devices was annoying. And after wearing both for a week, my numbers from the Garmin were very similar to the Whoop.
Also like the OP stated, the band is not meant to get wet.

Had both the whoop and Oura ring. And I rather my Oura ring than the whoop by a large margin.

I think WHOOP is awesome but I don’t really know how I’d use the data. I’d love to see it, but I don’t think it would change much for me.
I stick to a plan when I workout, whether I feel shitty that day or not. I feel like this would backfire on me.
“Oh I feel shitty today? I’ll just take the day off.”
“I didn’t sleep well last night? frick it, I’ll just do some mobility and recover.”
The reality is, right now, I’m grinding if I feel good or not. I feel I get more out of grinding through days I feel like shite. Maybe not physically, but it certainly builds my character. If I was a high performance athlete, then I think this would make more sense for me. I’d actually need to “listen” to the data.

You will cut down on alcohol when you get the feedback of how bad it is for you. I pretty much don't sleep when I drink as little as 4 beers. It will change your sleep habits.
I got a new Garmin watch and started wearing it to sleep to track and this is the first thing I noticed. Just a few beers and I get an alert that my recovery was delayed due to poor sleep. I was like WTF, how does it know. Even though I felt like I slept OK, I came to realize how bad alcohol affects your sleep. I haven't dug too deep into it but I think it has to do with HRV (heart rate variablility) due to alcohol.

Mostly the design of the Oura ring. I can never really notice it or tell it’s on my finger. The whoops band was horribly designed in my opinion. It was annoying and never felt comfortable. Also it took about three reboots before it started tracking my sleep.

I have used Whoop for about a year now and told my friends the exact same thing. Basically the data is awesome, but I don't really use it.
However looking back, I have definitely changed habits because of what Whoop is telling me.
I have basically cut out alcohol completely (first day wearing Whoop I was on an all day drinking/coke bender) and I have also gone all-in on sleep (new mattress, chilipad, CBD before bed, etc). I attribute this completely to Whoop.
Now I am still the same as you in terms of working out..If I have a scheduled workout I am going to hit it regardless of what Whoop says (unless something drastic happened).

Bumping again. Almost had the whoop for a month and love the data.
I’m posting because I had read how whoop vitals can help predict when/if you get sick with Covid. I had lots of red flags this morning along with some chills, so I decided to get tested and I came back Covid positive.

Wishing you then best man.
Was the red flag the Respiratory Rate, Recovery, or both?

I’ve been wearing my whoop on my left ankle for 6 months.

Recovery was VERY low. So I dove into the numbers and my HRV was down, my RHR was way up and my respiratory rate was elevated. All signs that my body was working harder behind the scenes.
Feeling okay today. Going to miss out on two weeks of “gains” but maybe my body will enjoy the time off.

Question for you, did the Whoop metrics stay elevated for a few days or was it a one day spike?
I had something similar in January in which my recovery was randomly 9% and any my respiratory rate skyrocketed. My first thought was COVID although I felt fine.
The next day, I returned completely to normal and had no symptoms, so did not get tested.
