Which would mess up your health faster? Drinking a lot of Red Bull or drinking a lot of Coca-Cola?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I think Coke tbh. Assuming it’s regular Coke and you aren’t active at all.

But I’m biased because I drink 2-3 sugar free red bulls everyday.

The high amounts of caffeine will frick you up, I just had to stop drinking them. It'll make you extremely tired throughout the day and you'll keep crashing then going back for another to make you not tired. never ending cycle.

That would be the sugar, not the caffeine

I was drinking sugar free monsters... you "ITS THE SUGAR" people are very annoying.

Building a dependence on caffeine CAN be much worse than drinking sugar. You can develop cardiovascular problems, ED, and insomnia.

Caffeine addiction is real

I’d say Red Bull

The small cans of Red Bull have around 80mgs of caffeine, which isn’t that much

Can you post the studies on this?

I'd like to see info on the timing and amount of caffeine intake and confounding factors re caffeine's correlation with these things.

Obviously insomnia can be an issue if you take caffeine late in the day. And I could possibly see some people having reversible ED. And I suppose if you've already developed a heart condition, some people could see some increased risk, but caffeine alone ain't causing heart conditions in 99.9999% of people, I promise you.

n=1: I drink an absurd amount of strong black coffee, cut it off by 2-3 pm and have none of these issues whatsoever. I also don't do other things to put me at risk of energy swings (yes that is in fact mostly the sugar), or the other ailments you cite.

Next episode: nicotine can actually be good for you study (sorry it's from aTm)

I don't really have studies, but my personal experience is.. when I started having thyroid issues, my energy levels were awful. In order to function, in was taking in 400-500mg caffeine every morning, in the form of sugar free energy drinks and coffee, and then having more coffee at lunch to get through the afternoon. As my medication increased I was able to dial back my caffeine intake, but a certain amount of brain fog and daily lethargy didn't go away until I gave up caffeine. It took a week of nonstop headache, brain fog, irritability, and lethargy, but so worth it.

I'm not saying sugar won't do those things to you, but for me the culprit was absolutely caffeine, not sugar or sugar alcohol.

Is it possible to be immune to caffeine?

Some days I’ll take 1000mg or more per day. Some days I won’t have any at all. No drastic changes in the way I feel or function.

That's a shite ton of caffeine. I bet I get at least that a day though. That's 4-5 8oz cups, and my coffee is strong.

And yeah, thyroid shite interacts with all sorts of stuff. Makes sense.

I never stay off caffeine long enough for withdrawals. Prob brutal.

This sugar free energy drinks are mostly shite btw. Can wreck gut microbiome, which is def no bueno for thyroid health.

Glad you're feeling better.

Can attest to the sugar free stuff having negative effects.

I was smashing one of those white monsters daily for a couple months straigh just because they taste so good.

Gotta keep in mind those energy drinks also contain other nootropics, so it may not just be caffeine but the combo of caffeine and other stimulants/nootropics. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Neither mess up your health. Moderate amounts of caffeine is good for most people despite what you have been told. See the lean gains book for the studies. This is for healthy individuals

Sugar is fine so long it fits your macros.

I have been drinking 6 regular cokes a day for the last 25 years and I’m in pretty good shape and health. Don’t touch Red Bull’s.
