I’m beginning to see guys my age with abdominal muscles that stick out further than their chest. Makes them look fat.

Thoughts on why this happens?

Bubble gut from roid usage can cause it.

..but don’t get fat. Main culprit.

The use of insulin and Human Growth Hormone drugs causes muscle mass to increase considerably. This causes not only an increase in mass in the Rectus Abdominis, or “the six pack”, itself, but also in the muscles that lie underneath it, such as the Transverse Abdominus and the Internal Obliques. This causes the entire midsection to grow and protrude, giving a ‘blocky’ appearance and contributing to stomach distension. Also known as Palumboism.

this is a good bit of it.

but also a lot of guys in mid 40s are carrying around a lot of visceral fat around their organs. Some more than others. Key is losing fat.
