I'm not a runner either. Never have been, most likely never will be.

I do however love walking and hiking. I like the outdoors and solitude that walking a trail gives. Weather permitting (aka above 25 degrees and not storming) I try to start every day with a nice long walk.

I love walking, it's great. Walking's biggest CON is time. It takes friggin time.

you can get ruck backpacks and weights off of Amazon for cheap.

I’ve recently added one of these to my cart. Just haven’t pulled the trigger. I’m thinking of trying 15 lbs one.

Walking is awesome exercise and it can be done at a low intensity if working around injuries ailments etc.
I tell the folks who don't want to go to a gym that there is no need if you are just wanting to lose weight walk 30 mins 5 times a week and eat real foods. It will absolutely work and doesn't take much effort. I did 35 min this morning on treadmill at 14.5% incline at 3.0 speed. Felt like I could slay a giant when I was done. Sometimes in evenings after dinner I will do a 30 min walk around neighborhood also just depends on how I feel.

There aren't a ton of absolutes in health, but one absolute is that the more active you are, the better your situation is gonna be.

Look, running could arguably be better than walking, but walking is light years ahead of nothing. Bottom line is the best exercise is one that you're motivated to consistently do.

Walking is vastly underrated. Well, not in this board. My only recommendation is to take the earbuds out. Tune in to the world around you for a little while.

Nightly walks have been crucial to my mental health. I’ve struggled with anxiety most of my life and started walking regularly about 6 years ago. Walking, talking to myself, praying (if you’re in that that) really helps me to put the workday behind me and enjoy my off time.

I’ve gotten away from it the last few months and have noticed the anxiety creeping back. Started the walks again 2 weeks ago and already seeing improvement.

Just started walking again, 2 weeks ago, as I rehab my leg. 2nd week, started mixing in a 1 minute run ever other day, adding 10% more each time. I enjoy the slow pace, peace and quiet, and time out of the house. Leave the phone at home, and no ear buds. Just the sound of birds, squirrels and an occasional car. Average about a 4400 steps, but I only wear my Garmin when I exercise.

I walk for 30 minutes around my neighborhood every morning with a 20 pound vest.

Definitely gets the blood flowing.

I use a ruck with plates in it to do the same thing, a little weight goes a long way. With that purple weighted vest pictured above, it doesn't look like there's any way to add or remove weight, although I don't know, I'd prefer an adjustable weighed vest or plate carrier so I could go heavier or lighter based on different training plans.

I do a 3 mile walk first thing in the morning.

45 minute weight session at lunch.

3 mile walk in the afternoon/evening listening to the Dan Bongino podcast.

15k steps a day average. It's a game changer.

Down 23 lbs since October (from 220 to 197) by increasing my steps from a minimum of 10K a day to 13-15K and dropped 2" off my waist. Also upped my protein while maintaining a calorie deficit. Walking for an hour first thing in the morning is the best thing I could have done for my health & fitness.

Damn baw 15k daily average is quite the accomplishment. Certainly requires discipline. Good on you. I’ve foregone driving to the gym and just walk instead. Bout 3 miles one way minimum 3 times per week. Rain or shine. Probably average somewhere around 10k per day with walking alone. Find that walking helps soothe the mind and is a pretty decent warm up before lifting. Plus, can’t beat the vitamin D absorption from 2+ hours of sun exposure.
