any of you guys ever have trouble sleeping? I use to sleep like a baby until a year or so ago.
now i have sleep anxiety and as soon as my head hits the pillow, my heart starts racing and i keep looking at the clock. ive tried the breathing treatments and take an over the counter unisom, but none of that helps.

Have you tried melatonin?

Yes. Does nothing. I can feel my body feel more relaxed, but I still have busy brain

I take Olly Restful Sleep. It is mostly melatonin, but it has some other magical sleep stuff in there. I do seem to get better rest than with regular old melatonin.

What does your routine look like going to sleep?
I have the same issue and have been able to limit (not completely control) with a good routine. I do very little TV or internet within an hour of bed and read instead. Sometimes if there's sports on, that goes out the window, but...
I try to limit all extra light and sound while sleeping. A fan for white noise and blackout drapes/sleep mask can do that trick.
My instances of lying awake with my mind racing have declined since I started following that routine. They're not fully eliminated, but, adulthood, right?

Are you working out in the afternoon/evening and taking a pre workout? Had to stop taking one because I couldn't sleep.
Other than that, don't hang out in your bed/bedroom before it's time to go to sleep. Train your body that room is for sleeping.
Also, make sure that you are knocking out your night routine earlier (shower, brush your teeth) and not right before you plan on going to sleep.
These are things that have helped me over the years.

Be mindful of caffeine. Even a little after say 2:00 can wreck me. Sleep hygiene is important. I don't have a tv in my bedroom. I don't hang out in there. I sleep there. If I can't sleep, I get up and go read on the couch until I feel ready to sleep.
Pills are not a long term solution. And don't stress if you aren't getting 8 hours. Not everyone needs that, and stressing about it is counter productive. If you need sleep, you will sleep.

Working out or going for a walk after work helps me a lot.

I tend to let my mind worry about the next day, instead of letting myself get some rest. It has helped me to kind of compartmentalize things. I put all my worries into a "box" in my mind, and tell myself they are stored away until tomorrow. And pray, ask God to handle things until I can help him with them in the morning.

i keep looking at the clock.
Remove the clock from the room. Remove your phone from the room. Charge it in your bathroom, face down so that it’s not flashing all night with updates.

going to sleep at roughly the same time every night cured all my issues with falling asleep

Start excercizing and limit your salt intake. Your blood pressure and heart rate will calm down.

ZMA with Theanine has helped me. It is a natural supplement also helps with muscle recovery

Probably the best advice in here if OP is looking at phone before bedtime.

Do you drink alcohol in the evenings? If so that could be the culprit. Counter to popular opinion, alcohol may help you get to sleep, but it does not help you stay asleep.
